Subject: How to twist and bend objects in Vue

graphicguru ( ) posted Tue, 02 August 2005 at 1:47 PM · edited Fri, 31 January 2025 at 3:00 PM

I cannot seem to find how it is done. How to make a strait line curve or bend. How to take an object and twist the fool out of it. I see objects that were rendered in Vue that have those attributes, but I suspect that they were done in another program then imported. For that matter, how to import while using a trial version of Vue... Hmmm, Hmmm, and triple Hmmm...

Sorry to say, Vue is not a modeller so these features does not exist. Only some very basic things are there. So you were right, models normally are imported into Vue from other programs. Is import not allowed in a trial version? I thought it is. Look in the file menu, it should be there.

You can twist objects in Vue, go to the Object property panel, which is where you see the material preview, click on the second icon, this is the numeric tab, and then select the 4th icon that looks like a twisted cube. Now you can twist your object. Not sure this is very useful though! Can be useful for terrain, to get overhang effects.

Also, when the object is on your screen.....where you see the XYZ....block one out & start tugging at the dots. As Bruno stated, you can twist & adjust roll/yaw/pitch.

AS stated above...just start playing the x/y/z co-ordinates. By clicking on each one of those boxes by the arrow, you get many adjustment possiblities. I should add that TWIST does not twist ie like a candy cane or taking a straight pipe & making it squiggly.

Not exactly what i would call twist and bend in a modeller environment but indeed, i forgot about that option.
