Subject: Ecosystems with cornucopia trees- no go

skytimelapse ( ) posted Tue, 02 August 2005 at 11:04 PM · edited Sat, 23 November 2024 at 8:17 AM

Anyone had success using the trees from cornucopia3d in an ecosystem? It prepares and loads fine, but when I click populate there are 0 instances. I've tried saving the ecosystem, says "unable to create encrypted file" and freezes when loading the eco file. Anyone know about this?

Yes, known problem. We all wait for a solution yet - it is passed on to the e-on technicians. Be assured.

I have posted basically the same question on the e-on website. Here is the reply that i got. (from e-on tech) Hi aaron, This behavior is intentional. The copy protection prevents you from saving a plant you got from Cornucopia3d. Best regards. Tom Thir I can understand why they would disable the ability to export a plant from vue, but you can't even save a new plant species created in the plant editor. Kind of a bad deal, if you ask me. -Aaron

The cornu objects in scenes don't seem to work with hypervue either... (cows say "disconnected") I have a feeling they had an Aug 1 deadline and they are selling things still in beta, not a good business practice...

I hardly ever say anything bad about Vue as its my favorite program that I really like it a lot. That said I think its sad that the new store has to encrypt files to work for registered members in Vue. It is like telling me they dont trust me with their files on my computer. They sure as heck don't get any encrypted money when the files are bought. All this encryption I am sure has a lot to do with a buggy infinite now that has lots of problems. May be wrong but why can't e-on trust us the registered members. Why can't they let us link to the store with our browser and downlaod files like rdna, daz and other well know sites without all this encrypition stuff is beyond my way of thinking. If its gosing to be this way with all files I will gladly give someone my $50.00 if it can be transfered. If not then it will never be used. :)

You can't save the houses either, if you have changed around the textures. What a nightmare......Glad I got those while they were still free, at least I can chage them around & re-save as many times as I want. They really need to re-think this encryptian crap and it is crap.

If I can't save a new species from it, can't populate an eco system...why would I want to buy such a limited product???

"If I can't save a new species from it, can't populate an eco system"

On a simple point of fact, you CAN populate EcoSystems with Cornucopia objects. If you find an object that doesn't populate correctly, please report it at the Cornucopia Store Talk Forum, then we can relay the info to e-on techs.

Thanks

John

We can't report it. The site is down. And what about saving new plant species? Why did you avoid that serious problem?

jwhitham ( ) posted Wed, 03 August 2005 at 6:55 PM

The site's not down, though there were some access problems on Sunday. Saving new species isn't a bug, it's a policy question, and as a lowly mod I can't give an answer. I was simply responding to an erroneous statement regarding populating ecos.

Got it working with ecosystems, turn down scale, up density. Hypervue with them is still a problem, though.

They work in the Ecosystems, you just have to play with the settings. Here's a pic I created using the Cornucopia trees in an Ecosystem.
