I have a couple of minutes of spare time this morning, I thought I would post a couple of pictures of the e-on software booth here at siggraph. First a picture of the booth itself. The wide screen in the front featured Phoul's amazing demo video of Vue Infinite.

And here is a pitcure of Eran Dinur (better know here as 'erka' ), giving a demo of Vue to a visitor of the booth.

To answer your question, Eran is not short :) The guy next to him was really tall.

Vue Fusion... Each demo of Vue (about 6 a day) ended by a few minutes 'preview' of Fusion with 3DS Max. Given the current state of development of the software, I would say it worked reasonably well. I did not see it crash in the demos I have seen, and only noticed minor visual artefacts when previewing scenes wih ecosystems in Max. It was actually cool to see a Vue scene opened in Max, and then see some Max objects being added to the scene and interacting with the Vue objects (with reflections, shadows and stuff). Now... you need to have reasonable expectation with what this plugin will do. In short, it allows you to open Vue inside Max, and have elements of both applications interact with each other. This is a great step towards integration, but it is NOT a full integration in the sense that you still have a Vue scene inside Max... not a full Max scene. For example, if you edit a material from the Vue objects, the plugin will open the Vue material editor - not the Max material editor. The final scene is rendered using Max's render engine by allowing some interaction between the two applications. It is actually a very smart way to integrate both applications, as they don't have to translate everything from Vue into Max, which would be prohibitively time consuming (and probably more expensive as they would have to cover more licensing costs). That will allow them to quickly come up with integration with other renderers more easily. Currently Max and Maya are scheduled for Fall. Lightwave and Cinema 4D are planned for the end of the year. I am sure more details will come up in the near future.

I can't undestand why one would want to use vue in max or maya when max and maya are so much more superior. What an odd match.

Very cool stuff, but they needed a Large Scale Fully-3D Display Hologram from us to make the booth literally POP! LOL!

Well, maybe they'll look us up for next year? Or next trade show?

yeah, show us Tim. @purplecloud. Make a forest in Maya please - with each tree different from the others. A very unique feature Infinite has. But maybe i simply am not informed well enough.

purplecloud - when you stop to think about it, it makes sense.

Vue Infinite hasits own way of handling shader, atmospheres, lights and most importantly, ecosystems.

The only alternative to using Vue inside Maya or Max, would be to rewrite Vue completely Vue as a full plugin of Maya or Max. That way, they can reuse their code and just focus on the integration with these programs... not rewrite the whole thing.

When placing objects inside Max, can you tell where the Vue objects (trees, landscape) are or do you basically need to guess?

As far as I can tell, you can see the objects.

Actually, the total depth/projection is probably more like 20 feet, but the image size is around 5.5 wide.

Well, we're doing the master right now. It is a simple animation (just a 3D rotation of the dragon in a pose and morph similar to one from the DAZ site). The client did not want any animation (darn-it!), but it's still going to rock. I'll post some pics (or maybe even video) when it's done.

We're thinking about creating a stock large scale dragon hologram ... this one WILL BE animated and have other cool elements in the background. Haven't decided yet, but look for that sometime early fall.

I've posted images of other large scale holograms (like the T-Rex, Future-Soldier (life-size!), etc.) here in the forums if you want to check those out.
