Behind my house there is a large field, then a fence and a small field on someone else's property. Lately there has been severl flocks of geese landing on that other property. Around 7pm they start coming in to land in that small field. So yesterday I took a walk out there (with the cows) to see why they were landing there. Turns out there is no reason....the field has a small dip that they are all standing in. There were 20 or so when I got there. While I stood there, at least 5 more flocks came in. I got a couple good pics, nothing real special since my cam won't focus quick enough. I uploaded a couple flying ones today and have some landing ones for tomorrow. Anyway, as I was watching another flock flying in, I heard the geese on the ground making a fuss. I turn around and see that the people let their dog out and it chased all the geese away! I have never noticed that dog chasing them before. So I wonder if they wanted me to leave or the geese. I'm going to do it again tonight I think. :) This photo is a little more than half the geese that were there before the dog came.

This is after the dog chased them away. They wanted to land again, but decided not to. I think they finally came back because I heard them take off this morning, just like every other morning lately at 6am.

Maybe they come for the same reason teens and their cars congregate at the most unlikely places (LOL).

LOL, im pretty sure it was the geese they were trying to get rid of. Why would anyone wanna get rid of you #;o) Where i live we usually have thousands and thousands of canadian geeses (is that the correct plural form?) on a field just across the road from our house. And the noise they make is sensationable. This autumn im definitly gonna try to shoot some...with my cam of course, lol. Wonderful photos and interesting reading. Thanks for sharing Damia. #:O)

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?
