Check out terragen! it is an app that generates landscapes. It is absolutely free and you can download it at http://www.planetside.co.uk/ You can use this program for backgrounds in poser or you can export it to lightwave!! For all you people who can't afford to buy bryce this is a real solution!!

Terragen is a great programme, I've been watching it's development for some time. It does produce very good landscapes. The only problem is that (to date) you can't import anything into T/gen. Paul

I love it. I just wish it would import objects and vegetation. But the realism is on a higher scale than both Bryce and Vue. I've been using it for several months now and it's great for backgrounds in Poser. Melanie

I love Terragen too. I use it only to have a distant backdrop for Poser, when I know I won't do any rotations. I've played with the parent-child settings a bit and it is quite flexible and stable. Yeah, it needs vegetation, but for that bleak landscape look it is great. And the skies rival anything I've seen in Bryce (OK, a bit of hyperbole there.) I've also checked out Genesis II, but haven't played with it too much yet. Seems this is better for an altitude view than ground level.

I have been using it for a while now. As a matter of fact, I was playing around with it last night and found out that I could import .raw files to it. Now I know that I'm able to do that since I have Paint Shop Pro and I checked that it does let me make .raw graphics. Here's an example I'm posting. It's nothing spectacular (yet) but its leading me to think that the possibilities are endless. Marty http://pages.ivillage.com/misc/marty188/index.html

I've tried GenesisII, but it's not very user friendly. No matter what I do, I can't get water to appear and I can't get the resolution very high. The ground looks like farm land with large square patches. It would be a good program, but it still needs work. Terragen is so simple to use and the quality is outstanding. I'll have to look into the RAW import. I wasn't aware of that. Melanie
