She looks good, thinking about it but I wondered if anyone had taken the plunge yet. Thanks, Marque

Francemi ( ) posted Fri, 12 August 2005 at 10:48 PM

I bought her as soon as I saw her face in the email from CP. ;o) I didn't play with her much but she's so cute! She comes with that complete outfit shown in the preview images. For $19US it's a good deal IMO. France

IMHO she's severely limited compared to Aiko 3. I'll pass.

thefixer ( ) posted Sat, 13 August 2005 at 3:30 AM

The troble i find with all these new figures is that they're not supported well enough after, with clothes and stuff and then they get very limited with what you can do with them. You can get most of these types done with V3 anyway if you take the time to use the morphs and stuff. Just my opinion! thefixer, poser coord.

Isnt this the same figure they are talking about in the Teri Yaki thread??? with a million messages in it?

There are some renders posted in the DAZ forums. She looks really cute. I will probably buy her. She is definitely low-poly compared to the likes of Aiko 3 or Jessi, but low-poly can be a good thing, especially for animating.

wolf359 ( ) posted Sat, 13 August 2005 at 8:09 AM

Actually as an animator myself I see little if any advantage to thes low poly characters any experienced poser animator using V2/V3 etc will animate her nude with No hires textures/hair applied and in bounding box Mode. once you are happy with your motion you save it as an animated pose file or BVH file and then apply that motion to a fully clothed textured version of your character. for the final render sequence as far as this "New" figure goes... IM not catching the fever here :-/ yet another mundane"animae" chick figure in a swirling sea of Also rans...SIGHHH!!! I see nothing here ,not already possible in V2,V3 or the free MAYA doll. and unless CP pays the $500 fee the Philc to get her WW compatible(not likely) she will have very litte clothing I suspect. Yeah I know "Choices are good" blah blah, blabbity blah ...I Choose to pass.

Don't even think she's that new if you read the info on when she was first created. More on par with Posette. Marque

LOl, she is adorable! For fun I've subdivided her to make her more smooth and she is really nice now...unfortunately I broke her expression morphs! Can't figure out how to fix that.

Wolfkazzy ( ) posted Sat, 13 August 2005 at 8:35 AM

This might have been posted elsewhere here in the forums, but PhilC has just bought her and is planning to put her in Wardrobe Wizard so I think I'll bite the bullet and buy her myself..she's cute, a good friend for Aiko :) a little limited but still cute!

randym77 ( ) posted Sat, 13 August 2005 at 8:41 AM

Yup, Phil has already promised to include her in WW!

I don't do a lot of animation, but I notice a big difference with low-res figures. Even for something like dynamic hair and cloth, the sims run much faster if you use a low-res proxy (as in Kirwyn's products), or even V3 RR instead of the regular V3.

Francemi ( ) posted Sat, 13 August 2005 at 9:11 AM

Yep, Wardrobe Wizard will support Yuki next week! So happy about this, I'd dance if I was able to! lolll While it's true we can do the same or better with other models, for $20US I think she's a very cute addition to my Runtimes! Especially now that I won't have to buy clothes for her.

You mean you actually have the will power to actually resist buying clothes for TY when they finally come out with something so cute and yet different enough from everything else you have? I admire you for that! ;)

Francemi ( ) posted Sat, 13 August 2005 at 9:47 AM

Well I never said I would not buy clothes for Yuki. I said I would not HAVE TO. ;o)

Yes, looks good... but... I'd like a set of shorts/pants and t-shirt for the Summer. We have a saying in Quec "J'suis difficile pour une queuse" that means "I am really fussy for a beggar" - I guess it applies to me today! lolll

Very cute outfits! And wow, you're sure working fast.

I just bought her this afternoon. She is very low-poly, but fun. Here she is, wearing some of Vicky's clothes.

One weird thing: she's got posable toes, like Jessi. Kinda weird that such a low-res figure would have separate toes.

TamiL ( ) posted Sat, 13 August 2005 at 4:12 PM

Nice pic! She's actually a very nice dolly when subdivided up to about 50000 polys! I did that earlier but it ruined the expressions morphs. I decided to get her this morning and the first thing I do now is make an outfit for my new characters! It this one gets conformed ok, I will release it on my site as a freebie..... http://tigerdesigns-online.com/

Francemi ( ) posted Sat, 13 August 2005 at 8:21 PM

I'm sure it will... eventually. You won't quit until it does, I know! ;o)

Any poser4, poserPP, poser-artist, or poser5 users buy her yet? Is she usable in those versions? Can anyone verify compatibility/incompatibility? E-Frontiers didn't actually state versions compatibility on her specs.

My brain is just a toy box filled with weird things

randym77 ( ) posted Sun, 14 August 2005 at 8:40 AM

She is P6-only. It doesn't say so, but I suspect that was an oversight.

She uses external morphs, so you need P6 to use her morphs. However, if you open her in P6 and then save her with external morphs disabled, she will work in Poser 5.

She's got a specular map for her face, and she's so low-poly that she looks much better with Smooth Polys, but other than that, there's no reason she couldn't be used in P4. Except for that damned unnecessary external morph thing.

Francemi ( ) posted Sun, 14 August 2005 at 8:55 AM

open her in P6 and then save her with external morphs disabled<< How do you do that?

randym77 ( ) posted Sun, 14 August 2005 at 8:57 AM

It's under preferences. I have external morphs disabled anyway, because I've found P6 tends to "lose" morphs when you use PMD files. Plus, Vue doesn't like external morphs.

I use her in Daz Studio and she seems to work fine? Oh anyways, I made a 3 piece outfit for her. It will be in renderosity freestuff soon, its available now at my site for anyone intersted..... http://tigerdesigns-online.com/

randym77 ( ) posted Sun, 14 August 2005 at 9:58 AM

But can you use her morphs in DAZ Studio?

TamiL ( ) posted Sun, 14 August 2005 at 10:01 AM · edited Sun, 14 August 2005 at 10:02 AM

Yes so far the expression morphs and the breast morphs seem to work fine for me. Maybe its reading something from Poser 6??? Not really sure.

Interesting. Did you save her from P6, or did you open her directly in D|S?

directly in Studio

randym77 ( ) posted Sun, 14 August 2005 at 10:26 AM

I wonder if they've added the ability to read PMD files? The morphs don't work in Poser 5.

TamiL ( ) posted Sun, 14 August 2005 at 10:33 AM

I'm not sure.... I didn't save her or anything and the pmd is still in the cr2?

Francemi check your post time, " 11:11" How about that!

Ok now it looks like D|S may read her?????

pmd still in the cr2? Isn't the pmd an external morph file? Ohhhh nuts. My head hurts.

Poser5's not reading it, D|S is, and the external file's maybe some how now in the cr2 but not in every case?

(Fear the cute ones)

Your welcome Francemi! Is this casual enough now? LOL

Francemi ( ) posted Sun, 14 August 2005 at 2:52 PM

Yes, it is. With sets like that we can create our own textures and it is versatile. And I just received the update from Poserworld and they have a dress for Yuki so you see, she did not need another dress. loll

I asked over at DAZ, and they said D|S can read PMD files now. Wonder if there's any way to save it in a form usable by Poser 5?

Starkdog ( ) posted Sun, 14 August 2005 at 8:33 PM

Hi Tamil, How did you get your clothes to conform nicely? I made a set of capri's and a babytee for TY(See the "Terai Yuki- getting dressed is a Pain" thread), but I get a lot of breakthrough. I was also thinking of subdividing her in Hexagon, but I remembered that you said that it killed the facial morphs. Anyhow, cute set, and I also see that you are using Silo. Are you using 1.4.2? Have you tried any dynamic clothes yet? I was curious as to whether you got a lot of collisions or not? Thanks, -The Starkdog

TamiL ( ) posted Sun, 14 August 2005 at 9:13 PM

LOL, the conformers are a nightmare here. If you use her cr2 to make the conformer beware, it won't be zeroed on the xyz dials! You have to manually zero everything. That is part of the problem, the rest of the poke thru unfortunately has to be done with hiding body parts. Also she is very low res and has sharp angles when posed. This is almost impossible to compensate for. Silo 1.42 beta 6 here. I subdivided her in Silo at one level and it helps tremendously with her appearance. It breaks the facial morphs though it doesn't hurt the breast morphs....go figure! I haven't really gotten into dynamic clothes. I like Daz Studio better than Poser so they won't work! I'll check out the thread, have to find it first!!

clsteve ( ) posted Tue, 23 August 2005 at 1:06 AM

Per request a Hi-Res or rather Higher-Res version has been included in the Terai Yuki package on CP. If you've already purchased you can download again via the MyStuff tab and the additional HiRes Cr2 and Obj will be included. Hi Res Terai Yuki totals --> 43850 polys 45314 vert Thanks, Steve
