P.S. You won't make pretty clothes and hair in Poser. Poser is basically for posing things made in other applications. It includes figures, clothing, and hair for you to use, but it's not for making your own. However, there is a lot of content you can download off the net, for free and for sale.

You'll see some "librarys" on the right hand side of your screen. 1. Choose and load a figure from the figure library. 2. Load a pose from the poses library. 3. Now add some clothes (click on the double tick). Click on the selected clothing item once it appears in the main window. Click on Figure Menu. Then conform To. Select Figure 1. OK. it. 4. Add Hair from the Hair library. 5. Add some lights from the Lights library. 6. Save it and Hit Render. Looks OK ? OK, but it's a bit plain. Import a background picture and render to a new window.

We're glad to see you rejoining us, geep. Congrats on the new teaching job - perhaps we should call you Prof. geep now. ;-)

geep lives and thinks at a higher vibration thus those living in a lower vibratinion state just tend not to see him when he's been there all along. Hehehehe. :)

OMG sighs Ok..truth is altho many wont admit it...in a game or online world called Second Life, players DO buy/aquire hair & clothing for poser and then change the file format and upload it into SL for avatars in there that were based on Posers 'characters' Its a well known fact and some beautiful clothing & hair has been created & SOLD for game currency which is then converted to real currency...I am sure I have opened up a whole new debate by this but it happens & it happens a LOT So i bought Poser 6 thinking 'this' was the way forward for me to do the same. me thinks I may go back to my textures in PS7 poser scares me and my mind is racing with those tutorials you kindly linked me to lol...wow there should be a degree taken in this software! (prolly is)

Hoo, boy. And you have to pay a fee to "shop," so people can't even check to see if their work has been stolen. At least not without paying.

mrsparky ( ) posted Sun, 14 August 2005 at 8:53 AM

http://secondlife.com/whatis/faq.php Says you can visit without paying. Don't have XP here so can't check :(

I'm pretty sure altering the content and re-selling it is so not complying with the Marketplace license. Basically just bookmarking this thread... But I can see why someone would want to do that - they have one avatar maker advertised on those pages that apparently makes an income between $500 and $2000 a month in USD.

Yay, another way for people to make a profit off the creativity and hard work of others. sigh bonni

Not just the Marketplace license, but the berne convention and other laws designed to protect copyright. Bonni's right as well. :(

Bonni: yep. Isn't it wonderful? MrSparky: The Berne Convention, too, of course.

Thanks for the link to the Tutorials. Is there one for bones and skeletons in the PP setup room, and fixing bad IK chains? Thanks. bB

About Poser content being taking into games and sold... I don't what Second Life is, but i do know The Sims, and Sims 2 have been mining Poser content for years. I would like to reverse that and take a Sims2 hairstyle into Poser. lol! There's a really cute hairstyle called "CatBoy" made for Sims2 I that I want to put on my Poser Anime characters, but I have no idea how to extract and convert it to obj. Check it out! bB
