THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Bryce Export

Does anyone know if it is possible to export an object from Bryce in 3DS format? Or will Bryce only IMPORT 3DS? Alternately, does anyone know if Corel provides any technical support for Bryce on the question above? I know that most software companies provide zilch for technical support, but one can always hope.

I have Bryce 3.1 and can only export as .obp. If you have Bryce 4 they say you can click on the e to edit the mesh and hit Ctrl-D to get export options.

Wadus, you are correct, except that 3DS is not one of the export options, curiously, since Bryce does allow importing 3DS. It's also strange to me, seeing that both Bryce and Poser originated with MetaCreations, that the two applications are not more compatable with each other. I have found it somewhat difficult to move things from one to the other, especially from Bryce to Poser.

"both Bryce and Poser originated with MetaCreations" no -- the companies that made Bryce and Poser were both assimilated by Meta -- they had two very different sources. -calyxa

I was looking for the answer also...was not aware of the "control D" function...now knowing this, I was able to export a bryce object from the updated Bryce 4.1 to the updated Poser 4.03 in both obj and 3ds format...thanks for the info...and it appears that the capabilities are there...

Okay, here's my predicament. As Juluka42 says, I can go through this procedure and export items that came with Bryce. But if I try to export an 'obp' file which I got from 'free stuff' (one of tonylynch's models) and put into my Bryce library, my system crashes. Why do the 'free stuff' items crash my system on 'export', but the 'built in' objects (also 'obp' items, work fine on export?
