Subject: Poser 6 doesn't import?

Marque ( ) posted Thu, 11 August 2005 at 11:25 AM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 7:41 PM

I thought you could import poser6 stuffage into Vue Infinity? Thanks, Marque

Poser 6 import quality depends on version of Vue 5 Infinite and Poser 6. Poser 6 SR-1 is a new animal V5I hasn't fully tamed.

I only have Vue 5 Esprit and if you uncheck "Use external binary morph targets" under "Save Files" on the Misc tab in Preferences in Poser 6, Vue 5 will read Poser 6 files. You can leave "Use file compression" checked because that works too. I would assume this would be the same in Vue 5 Infinite.

Poser 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Pro 2014, 11, 11 Pro

Thank you. Have the newest updates of both P6 and Infinity. Wonder how long I have to wait for a fix? O.o Marque

i have the same problem i can import my stuff...its like i did an image of the jolly troll last night with chains in his hands but when i imported the setup to vue 5 infinite it only imported the troll and not the chains he was holding cant get very stressfull at times your best bet is to just use poser5 if you have it till they get this fixed

Marque ( ) posted Thu, 11 August 2005 at 1:19 PM

Rats, just un-installed it thinking I wouldn't need it anymore. Thanks, Marque

i almost did the same thing margue... but i knew new things never work lol till later dates maybe poser or e-on will get this figured asap as my poser 6 runs so so smoother then my poser 5 i cant wait for the day till i remove poser5 lol

So if I re-install P5, while still having p6 installed, I could load a p6 file into p5 and it'll change into a p5 file that will import nicely into Vue?

Malstorm ( ) posted Wed, 17 August 2005 at 3:17 PM

hmmm good question zodo... i havent tried that yet...the only thing i noticed when using your poser6 stuff in poser5...was you couldnt change the background colour in poser5 but give it a try see what happens and let me know if it works cheers

It does pretty much work. Just load up your p6 file into p5 and resave or export obj from there. When I imported that obj into Vue everything looked good. But I'm not a fan of locating every freakin' texture it needs. Is there a way around that? When I imported the p5 file the stuff that loaded looked good but not everything loaded. The scene was just a figure with clothes, hair, holding a gun. Everything loaded except the hair and gun. Any advice? Thanks

lol zodo...thats a killer when importing to vue as obj file....even worse when you have a huge amount textures in poser its self...and to answer your questuoin on the hair issues...i'm not sure that can be done...well it can be done...just not sure how lol sorry...maybe you should post a new message in the forum...cos this one we are typing in now is a bit back dated

For now. If you want to import Poser files into Vue 5 (Infinite) with dynamics included, use Poser 5 to create the Poser files from. Do not use Poser 6 until Vue gets updated to work with Poser 6 files.
