Subject: Poser artist on a USB2 removable hard drive, FREEZE

i have a problem with my poser artist... i decided to put my poserartist reinstallation from scratch on a usb2 hard drive (Xpen 15gb) so i can use it from either of my computers with unplugging instead of having it on a rack hd or internal hd, and also bring my little "poser home" with all my other graphic softwares as a creation studio when i go in holidays on friend's place and wanna use their comp too the basic install of poser artist was around 600mb or so, and i tested it at work, and it would load from at least 3 different computers, plus my own computer at home then i started injecting back my commercial purchases and freebies in after putting base figures such as aiko3, daz's m2,v2,m3,v3 and a couple of others (animedoll for example), and a few mats and textures, i realise now that my poser artist loads from my hd if plugged on my home computer (the installation was made on it) but when i try to launch it from the computers at work it used to work on at the very early install step, it now hangs on/freeze poser at start/loading when it is about initializing FFVrml.arp windows consider the program is hung/frozen and i have to crach it. any info or advice or explanation about using Poser artist on a removable usb media ?

To my experience with Poser6 on an external HD is, it works well, also P4 and my P6 installation is at about 22 GB.

well what is strange is: 1) when i installed the basic poser artist out of the box, it would load without problem on all the computers i tested it on, from my Xpen (a usb2 physical HD 15gb, it's not flash memory, it's a regular hd, but it is powered by usb cable, instead of having a power supply you plug elswhere... very convenient) 2) after i added back some of the basic figures (V2/m2, V3/m3, aiko, animedoll etc) and a few amount of clothes or morphes/textures (character packages), the poser installation still loads perfectly from my own computer at home but on every other pc at work where i previously tested it, the poser.exe application hangs on/freezes and stop responding (according to windows) when it comes to inisialising FFVrml.arp

Did you try to wait for at least 3-4 minutes? Furthermore did you try to do anything else on the computer while poser was loading? I just ask because it happens, that my poser slows down on startup when loading this file. In these cases I go take a break, coffe and cigarettes, then come back to a well booted poser. Still I believe, that poser caches or someway stores the library structure and content.. maybe by indexing... if somehow that file gets corrupted because of added content, the thing might freeze. You could try adding elements one by one, to see which one causes this.
