Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 24 8:11 pm)
Wonder if P6 is getting confused about rotation order? Have you tried the seatbelts independently, to see if the parenting at the mounting point causes YZX to be treated as XYZ or something else?

Hmm, you may be on to something. I renamed the dials from x, y, z rot to twist, open, updown - I am wondering if that is the problem since I am looking at Poser 6 jp editor and only see twist listed. Good grief, if that's an issue bad news for folks who set up models in the past and changed the dial names.
Darn! Darn! Darn! that does not seem to be it either. The jp parameter does not show up in the editor unless you name it xRotate or zRotate or some other name Poser is happy with such as Twist. But apparantly the jps work right and have the correct rotation order. So good thought but still not the problem. As best I can tell, the jps just seem to work a little different in P6, but why I can not say.
Nice model. Have you made IK chains for the seatbelts? Is IK on or off? Did you make poses for the belt positions? Did you make the poses with IK on or off? Or is the pic above how the model loads? Have you posed the belts back into position and saved the cr2? Did it still load as shown? We need more detail about your problem, I think. I haven't found any difference in the jps between any of the Poser versions. No differences in IK, ability to rename rotation dials or rotation orders either. I think that's a red herring.
Hi moochie
Thanks :O)
No IK
JP set up is very simple - xRotate, YRotate, ZRotate to work belt ends. Belt ends are each own group with the seat as the parent. Four groups for seat belt:
beltFR
beltFL
beltBR
beltBL
I have a master dial in the BODY group that uses an ERC link but the problem happens the same when you go to each belt group and try to pose it. It just will not pose the same as in Poser 4-5. To drape the seatbelts open, I use the twist (xRotate) and open (yRotate) dials. zRotate is not needed for this and is set up to handled UpDown rotation. I have tried all three dials in various combinations in Poser 6 so rotation order does not appear to be the problem.
The model loads/saves/works fine in Poser 4-5 as a cr2 or pz3 and I have tried to both in Poser 6.
To fix the problem I dumped the jp set up and used a morph instead, but my curiousity has the best of me so I would still like to find out why this is happening if I can.
One person offered to look at the model, so I will get it zipped up and sent to him. If you want to look at it also, let me know. :O)
