August 22, 2005. Beaverton, Oregon: e-on software, the leader in 3D environment creation software, announces the upcoming release of Vue 5 Easel, the new entry level version of it's award winning Vue product line. Vue 5 Easel will be retailing at a breakthrough pricing of $99.

Vue 5 Easel, The Natural Way to 3D!

Vue 5 Easel is specifically designed for digital artists and hobbyists looking for a simple introduction to 3D. With a rich but incredibly easy-to-use feature set, Vue 5 Easel will let newcomers to 3D create breathtaking images and animations within minutes. Based on the original paradigm of using a predefined set, adding characters and then choosing the best point of view to take the "photo", Vue 5
Easel constitutes an ideal introduction to the world of 3D. As users become more familiar with the basics of 3D, they can begin customizing the sets and, later, create their own, entirely new compositions. In addition, because it is based on a standard concept and interface layout, Vue 5 Easel will let users grow in 3D proficiency from a solid background.

"Vue 5 Easel is fun to learn and easy to use! It's also capable of professional quality results thanks to the use of advanced technologies such as Global Illumination. A world premiere for this kind of product!", said Nicholas Phelps, president of e-on software. "Vue 5 Easel is the ideal jumpstart to the world of 3D!"

The Vue product line is recognized worldwide for its amazing ease of use and cutting edge feature set.
E-on software provides a line of Vue products for home users (Vue 5 Easel, Esprit and Pro Studio) as well as a set of high-end solutions designed for the professional CG market (Vue 5 Infinite, Ozone and integrated rendering solutions).

A selection of features in Vue 5 Easel includes:

  • 22 preset decors
  • 52 ultra realistic SolidGrowthT vegetation species
  • Over 320 material presets
  • Over 125 preset atmospheres
  • High quality rendering at up to 5 MegaPixels
  • Easy editing of materials
  • Global Illumination, realistic atmosphere model, lens flares...
  • True Metablob organic modeling from all Vue Boolean primitives
  • Static Poser 4, 5 and 6 import
  • Camera animation using Dynamic Motion ReactionT technology
  • Compatible with Cornucopia3D interactive content management technology.

Vue 5 Easel will be released simultaneously for the Macintosh OS X and Windows 2000/XP platforms in September, 2005. Vue 5 Easel will be initially available in English and Japanese. German and French versions will follow. Vue 5 Easel will retail at $99. More details will be available shortly.

Excuse my ignorance, but what does "entry level" mean ?

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Mon, 22 August 2005 at 10:05 PM · edited Mon, 22 August 2005 at 10:06 PM

An entry-level application is generally a simpler package with a lower price, intended for customers just getting started in the field, much like Poser Artist, Mimic Lite, or Photoshop Elements. It may lack (or limit) some of the more powerful features of the full or professional versions of the product.

Thanks, Little Dragon. LillianH - Couldn't find any write-up of this new app on the E-ON website. Do you have any links ?

mathman, there isn't a write-up on the site yet. That should come with release of the product in September. You're correct, Little Dragon, it is a "starter package" for folks coming into the 3d graphics world, but there may also be good upgrade/sidegrade prices down the road.
