Subject: Using Fantasy Jessi with the Ultimate Head Morph Pack!

For those of you who wish to use the new Fantasy Jessi by Posermatic with the RDNA Ultimate Head Morph Pack here's a step-by-step of how I did it. The reason this is necessary is because the morph pack is for the Hi Res Jessi and the Fantasy Jessi pack is for the default Jessi. First of all in order to be able to do this in Poser 6 you must have already "unzipped" your Jessie.crz and JessieHiRes.crz into .cr2's One easy way is to rename the .crz to .gz and then use Winzip to extract the .cr2 (Of course making a copy of everything we'll be tampering with goes without saying!) Also in Edit/Preferences/Misc make sure "Use file compression" and "Use external binary morph targets" are UNchecked! Now, bring in JessiHiRes and completely zero the figure (I just use the zero figure from the Wardrobe Wizard python menu but you can select the figure and open up the Joint Parameters to do it) Next, go to File/Export as .obj and uncheck "Universe". Check only Head and name it JessHiResHead and hit ok, when prompted how to export selct only "Include body part names in polygon groups", "Use exact internal names except spaces" and "Include existing groups in polygon groups". Leave everything else unchecked and hit OK. Do the same thing with the Left Eye and Right Eye naming each JessHiResLEye and JessHiResREye respectively. You can save these in your Geometries folder wherever you wish, but I have already created a folder !Derivatives, following Crescent's orignal Anime Doll tutorial. Just make sure you know where these new .obj's are located as we'll have to edit the Jessi .cr2 now. Open your Jessie .cr2 (NOT the HiRes) and find these lines: actor head:1 { storageOffset 0 0 0 geomHandlerGeom 13 head } actor leftEye:1 { storageOffset 0 0 0 geomHandlerGeom 13 leftEye } actor rightEye:1 { storageOffset 0 0 0 geomHandlerGeom 13 rightEye } For every instance of "geomHandlerGeom 13 etc. .. " you will replace it with a geometry call like this: actor head:1 { storageOffset 0 0 0 objFileGeom 0 0 :Runtime:Geometries:!Derived:JessHiResHead.obj } actor leftEye:1 { storageOffset 0 0 0 objFileGeom 0 0 :Runtime:Geometries:!Derived:JessHiResLEye.obj } actor rightEye:1 { storageOffset 0 0 0 objFileGeom 0 0 :Runtime:Geometries:!Derived:JessHiResREye.obj Again, make sure you have correct path if you have saved your exported .obj's into another folder. Then, save this cr2 as JessiHybrid or whatever you prefer. We're not finished yet! Normally, with injection morphs you could just inject the HiRes face morphs but for some reason .pmd's work differently - or at least they did for me and wouldn't load into my hybrid figure. So, go back to Poser and load the HiRes Jessie and inject her with the Ultimate Head Morph Pack morphs (inject all) and save her (as JessiHiResM) Next, open up Morph Manager and open this newly saved Jessi in one column and the Hybrid Jessi in the other. Select all the head from JessiHiResM and copy all morphs. This will take a while since there are a lot and once it's done you can now resave your JessiHybrid and exit Morph Manager. Once you open up JessiHybrid in Poser she will now have a hi-res head with all her original morphs and the morphs from the Ulitmate Head Morph pack but her body will be the default and thus will accept Posermatic's Body INJ - make sure to use the Body only file! That's about it, if I've missed something or you've got any further questions, fire away! Many thanks to Yamato and Crescent for getting me hooked on "Frankensteining" my Poser figures :) For much better tutorials on creating hybrids from them both visit their sites! http://www.juno.dti.ne.jp/~yamato-k/ http://www.ebonshire.net/index.php

Nice figure! Very Frazetta like. I like her! Thanks for sharing the info!

Yikes! Creature building and coding ewww! haha. Thanks for the heads up and tutorial, I'll definatly benifit from what you've posted thanks.

"Very Frazetta like" Just my exact thoughts! I don't understand either all this poser code, is it going to be a "right-click" button version? Cos' it is good for the guy who like to dig in code, I'm very sure about it, but to me is just like highschool physics class!

MachineClaw ( ) posted Fri, 26 August 2005 at 10:48 AM

The code is not actually that scary. It's like using a word processor and doing find and replace. DONT use a word processor though! It will change the code. The edited CR2 could be encoded and distributed as a "one button" solution but hosting that file would be pretty big and a bandwidth sucker. If you take it slow, breath a lot, anybody can do this really. really.

This is just great Kalypso! I have never thought of "frankestein" Jessi but this surely opens the gate to many possibilities for Jessi.

This could be useful not only for the FAJessi (which is great BTW:) but for many users whose Pc is low in resources making high polycount figs slow their work but want to use the morph packs.

I agree with MachineClaw that the code is not that difficult and in this case the process is very clear.

I think the "frankenstein" .obj could be encoded as well as the .cr2 with the morphs for the "1- button" option, so let me see where could I host the file.

But first, Kalypso could you make an experiment? Please compress the cr2 with the morphs and tell us how much megas does it has. Thanks.

I have been around here for quite some time now and believe me I haven't edited a single file in my life, and I like to remain a virgin... :) I like when people post this kind of stuff because is exciting to know all the things that can be done and feel proud to be part of the community but I prefer to buy things rather than make them.

Really, it's not as difficult as it sounds - it actually took me longer to write it down than to do it! udhal, it's only difficult the first time, after that you'll like it :) Posermatic, when you say compress the cr2 with the morphs which ones do you mean? Because the hybrid will not initially have the morphs nor can they be included as they are part of a commercial package so the user will at least have to do the transfer via morph manager after loading them into the HiRes Jessie. Also, no point in including yours as it's a matter of one button click. So basically just the hybrid, Jessi HiRes Head on Jessi default body but I don't know how it could be distributed, it would also need the .obj's I exported and I don't know if they can be distributed even in encoded format. The head and eyes obj's along with the new cr2 come only to 2MBs.

Posermatic ( ) posted Fri, 26 August 2005 at 2:28 PM

I mean the final cr2 with the Ultimate HMP and the corrected .obj, otherwise it will still need morph manager to load them and if its going to be a 1-click solution the morph manager step needs to be avoided. Yes, my morphs doesn't need to be included because as you say they load easily from poser and doesn't require preexisting channels. The new .objs (head and eyes) could be zipped and then RTEncoded so they point to the original Jessi .obj and the final .cr2 (head+eyes hires+lowres body+UHMP) could be also encoded to point to the UHMP .cr2 this way the rights of the UHMP are protected since the user must have them to decode the file. It will be a two step process for the ones who are not keen on hacking cr2 files. 2Mb that's very slim I think hosting it will be no prob.

Well, it's 2MB with NO head morphs, if I add just the default JessiHiRes head morphs then it goes to 8 and if we add the UHMP then it's 16MB's :(
