Subject: Get Your Priorities Straight Renderosity Staff!

I'm suprised that Ironbear was given his own column on the front page - and even more suprised that it deals with... the forums?!! The galleries section is constantly being marginalised and forgotten by the staff every time Renderosity adds something new to the front page. Has the staff totally forgotten about the galleries section? And why hasn't the section been highlighted on the front page or given a clear and better link lately? Ironbear and his brand of 'humour' is not even mildly entertaining and neither are the forums - so how about a new column on the front page highlighting the galleries? Currently, the sole link to the galleries on the front page is buried among a plethora of links and newcomers practically need to hunt it down to locate. Is Ironbear and the forums more important to Renderosity compared to the galleries?

Do the galleries seem to be suffering from neglect? We currently average about 125 new images a day. What should be done to better promote the gallery?

Illusions idea on the galleries thumbnail [like the Store thumbnail] is a pretty good one. Based on the 200-300 images a day that are posted, plus the number of views I see per image... it looks like the galleries are getting trafficked. They're not getting commented in, and that's an entirely different problem... one I have no idea what we can do about. Can't agree on the forum highlight tho... since I joined in May99, I field questions on a weekly basis in chat from people who didn't even realise that we had forums, much less one dedicated to the app they were having problems with. This gives us a way to let people know what the site has available to people who may not realise that there's more here than the galleries and freebies. Without the forums... where would you have posted this comment? Sorry you dislike my sense of humour, but I'll survive it - I realised a long time ago that not everyone would enjoy my brand of sarcasm. Matter of taste... some people enjoy SNL and I haven't found them funny since the early eighties.

I like Ironbear's witty tour through the forums :) He always makes me laugh :) Laughter is good for the soul, try it sometime 4thuprising, and you might not be in an uprising ;p

Now that I have a critic, does this mean I'm like a real published writer now? Kewlness...

Actually I just started reading and enjoying the forums because of Ironbear..........I guess that makes me one thats easy to entertain...hehehe. I don't know, I for one think your doing a good job dude.....I don't seem to smile much anymore with the stress of surviving in this mess we call a world and your columns make me feel more at home here in renderosity and hey I actually smiled a bit upon reading the recent one......snicker..

Thanks, everyone. And thanks, DemolitionMan... this is going to sound sappy, but that makes it worthwhile to me. This place is a home and family to me, and I enjoy pointing out to people some of the odd, less well known, and entertaining areas of the place. In all the time I've spent off and on the net from teledungeon to present, I've never encountered another place quite like this. Sorry our senses of humour don't merge 4thuprising. Maybe next time.

Maybe renderosity forums are highlighted is because they are so good! I've been playing at modeling for about 4-5 years and this is by far the best site for the process of making pictures - there are 1000's of gallery sites. and the images within which are by turns - rendered in 6 months on a kick-arse fully-loaded silicon graphics workstation - or reflective balls on a chequered ground. The forums bring the site to life. All power to their elbows

Actually... 4thuprising had an idea. Given the huge number of hot images uploaded on a daily basis, and new artists joining constatntly - maybe we need a Gallery Correspondant to keep track of the galleries and highlight items of interest. It would help if whoever it was had a good knowledge of the galleries and a witty & insightful way of presenting the information. NOT me, I can't add any more projects... Candidates anyone?

that is a good idea ironbear. the person would have to be able to look at the images with an artistic, unbiased and unjudgemental eye, and not judge the content. was that clear? i'm not sure if that came out right lol (and someone with a LOT of time!) hehehehe

And someone who's prepared to have a lot of time suddenly become a lot less time... ;]
