Hi folks

I suppose in USA people dont access to Russian cinema as here in Europe. So Im impressed because the high release in an american-style of Night Watch, a scifi-horror movie that had a spectacular success in its country. This august, watching MR. & MRS. SMITH I saw a trailer and I was stunned... fx are at skills as for example Matrix has in its moment, and the scenes reminds me modern horror movies as 13 GHOSTS or THE HOUSE OF HAUNTED HILL.

I love horror movies (GOOD horror movies, not Friday The 13th and other stupidities with ridiculous murder and pheromoneted teenagers without brain). I see that theres an english website and trailer (http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox_searchlight/night_watch/). Is released the film in USA? Anybody has seen it? EDITED to put correctly the url. Hey, would be nice this thread to discuss about MODERN horror movies...

"Hey, would be nice this thread to discuss about MODERN horror movies..." Dawn Of The Dead (2004) remake was a surprisingly good horror movie. Nothing like Romero's classic, but I really liked the way they changed the zombies to be faster and more rabid. The action was non-stop from start to finish, and the editing and soundtrack were top notch. Good stuff. I actually did like the first 2 "Friday The 13th" movies, as well as the first "Nightmare On Elmstreet", which I thought was a very imaginative storyline for the genre. However, they got incredibly cartoonish after that. Still, those are more slasher-genre films than pure horror.

Well, I would save the first of both FRIDAY THE 13TH and NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET because the idea was interesting (more the second one; I lovehorror in the line between real life and dreams). But their sin was to open two freaky series with each film worse than the previous one (until the moment that both series joints... if one day I want to suicide me, Ill watch FREDDY VS. JASON)

I'm not a big fan of them (my 2 faves are Army of Darkness, Dr. Phibes..well, that's actually 3..;) I don't have a problem with the topic, that's the mods' concern..;)

I'm not a horror movie fan at all and I'm sorry to say, but this is way to off topic to be in this forum, but that's just my opinion.

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(

Food for thought.....

I see that John Carpenter's classic 'The Fog' has just been remade. I can't believe it'll be as good as the original, they never are. Anyone in the US seen it - it hasn't been released in the UK yet, AFAIK.

Friday The 13th is not a horror movie, is a comic movie! I love real horror movies and I am from the times of Boris Karloff, Vincent Price, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee......

Stupidity also evolves!

As many people's inspiration is based on these movies (just look at how many knife-fingers you see in the gallery) this is not that much off topic. I like Dario Argento's movies and some lesser known ones like Malpertuis. Or the very stylish remake of Nosferatu, or Cat People.

I have tried prudent planning long enough. From now I'll be mad. (Rumi)

I saw a 30min promo of Night Watch, met the director and got a free Night Watch t-shirt and poster, from the 30 mins of footage it looked quite good and left me wondering what happens next? so when is night watch supposed to be released???

Getting old and still making "art" without soiling myself, now that's success.

Speaking of bad remakes, or better originals, The Haunting was a great movie. The remake put too much emphisis on the house, and not enough on the woman.
