THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Scripting in Bryce

I can't find any mention of scripting capability in the Bryce manual (or maybe I'm missing it). Other packages seem to have this (like MaxScript, Lscript, or Poser Python) and it's quite handy.

no such thing. drac

Last I heard it was on the 'to be included' list for Bryce6.

Scripting in Bryce6 - really?

Len.
(A scripted edition of PRO-RENDER just got added to my "To-Do" list).

i wonder what exactly you would be able to script, aside from poser stuff in python. drac

Well if they're sensible about it, they'll make all material and environment parameters scriptable. If they do that, "automated" light-synthesis will be possible in Bryce. At the moment, it's possible (believe me), but it's far from being automated :-(

I hope the do include scripting, that one goes waaaaaaaaay up top, on my wish-list :-D

my wishlist regarding bryce 6 has only one point: 1. Don't bork it up. :) drac

What's automated light synthesis? I would rather they concentrate on content like materials and presets, and make Bryce models exportable!

@draculaz Yeah - that as well. @bandolin PRO-RENDER = light synthesis SCRIPTING = automation ...and... BRYCE5 = no scripting BRYCE6 = scripting ...therefore... BRYCE5 + PRO-RENDER = non automated light-synthesis BRYCE6 + PRO-RENDER = fully automated light-synthesis ...yep, something like that :-) Len (Errr...drac, three times just for you - in UPPER-CASE as well) :-D

From what I understand (based on several overly scientific artices) light synthesis deal with light and how the light spectrem breaks down into colours. It also deals with how the different colour spectrems (in a beam of light) interact with the surrounding enviroment. Although most of the articles I found delt with rendering models to map binary star systems, and I am not Mr. Wizard when it comes to science so I probably missed other important things regarding light synthesis. Cheers. P.S. I want to easily import and poser animations or Daz animations and animate them in Bryce. Also a better terrain editor that allows you to create joining sections of terrain without the hassels of marking north, south and other such directions as I get confused after the tenth or eleventh terrrain. P.S.S. Animatable dust, rain, snow, waves, wind , water/ lava and trees would be nice.

@Pedrith

Interesting stuff, but that's not what I meant. Basically, I refer to synthesizing Global-Illumination in Bryce, by means of balance and synchronisation of it's paramaters - that's all.
