i have to agree. i have been selling with renderosity for some time now, and it has proved to be error free, and a nice bonus, cheques every month average 40-50$ and since i put up my new model bundles i have been lucky enough to get over $100 past two months. and for a hobby thats not bad at all. just remeber best way to make sales is 'pile it high & sell it cheap'.
Experience is no substitute for blind faith.

drac, so would that three month waiting list apply to me if I asked them to pay directly into an account? I mean is it just for cheques, or every payment type?
Also, like Geodesic250, I'm kinda curious what you meant by "you sold them" $1200-worth of stuff. Did they pay you an up-front fee for something?
Thanks for the link Jaymonjay, but I'd seen that - and it wasn't sufficient. I need to know a few things really, but one of the most important, is "how exclusive" do they mean, when they define a product as being "Renderosity Exclusive".
For example, let's just say I released PR, and it included a set of demonstration scenes. So, I decide to sell it on R'osity as an "exclusive" product called "PR Renderosity Edition" or something like that - no prob's.
But, and it's a BIG but! Would I then be able to sell say, "PR DAZ Edition" as an exclusive product on DAZ if for example I changed the demonstration scenes for exclusivity to their version.
Hmmm...yeah...something like that :-/

#1) Going "exclusive" doesn't get you anymore money than not going exclusive...UNLESS you are one of the top merchants here and you will then get 70%. #2) You will have to wait a long time to get your product released here. #3) You MUST provide any and all 3rd party resources you used to their copyrights dept. ...that's just for starters.
Len, Not sure you can just make small changes and sell it as an exclusive on both sites. I mean, Microsoft don't make small changes to Windows and then resell it. Oh wait a second. Anyway, can't talk about rosity since I've not tried. But DAZ have at least one of my models as an exclusive which they bought outright and 4 more they have expressed an interest in buying and I'm just waiting for the money, so I've done alright through them. Difficult to judge where the better market is, Here or DAZ.

From the wording of you whole message I get the idea that you are try to maximize the cash flow ... LOL!!! At Rendo you get a 50/50 split if you product is or is not exclusive to Rendo. Check out DAZ's site and the terms are a little different. You get a better deal there if you are exclusive to DAZ. BTW - for new merchants its a 45 day wait for the check, not three months.
I don't sell at DAZ because I sell via my own site aswell - then I get a 100% cut :) The testing process can sometimes be a bit clumsy here at Rendo but I have never had any problems whit payments or technical stuff. I do all my stuff from scratch so I don't have to worry about (c) 3rd party resources. I however can't understand how some products in the marketplace sell, like glass and sky presets - things you can create yourself with a minimum of effort. Maybe a bundle of primitives would sell too?

"#3) You MUST provide any and all 3rd party resources you used to their copyrights dept." There are very good reasons for that one, mainly people illegaly using stuff in merchant resources, causing other people who have used that product to make things to sell grief etc.

@grylin
Ok babe, I'll be counting the seconds (and the milliseconds as well).
See ya later my goddess ;-)
@Ardiva
lol - well for starters I don't think that stuff about buttocks and breasts is going to bother me, not with this product anyway. But I'm dissappointed about Exclusive products not getting a bigger cut than non-ex's - I always thought that was one of the incentives, but obviously not :-/ As for the use of 3rd party resources, again, no problem - it's my own work.
BTW, exactly how long is "a long time" to get your product released?
@Geodesic250
Yep, I want to maximise the cashflow - I dropped all my web projects recently (sick of the agro), so I'm skint :-)
@xenic101
lol
@drawbridgep
Aaah, so you "can" sell stuff to DAZ then (drac's been strangely quiet about that $1200) ;-)
@bazze
Yeah, I've thought about selling directly through my own site as well, but then I started to wonder which would be the better option?
1- Sell on renderosity.com, get lot's of free publicity, a 50% cut, and allow people to pay through a system they've grown to trust.
2- Sell on pumeco.com, get just about 100% cut, but a LOT less publicity, and perhaps loose potential custom through using my own choice of transaction processing.
It's a tricky one that is.
@EveryoneReadingThis
My main problem is that I made the BIG mistake of developing a product which unfortunately, I have no real way to copyright. Sure, I can prohibit copying of my product "as is", but I can't stop low-life scum from recreating and rebranding it (and taking away the cash I'd worked hard for). That's life though, so I guess I'll just have to "bite the bullet" and hope that decent folk of the forum will not be party to such "obvious" clones and likewise abominations.
Clones are a bigger problem than you might think. It's not only bad for me, but also bad for the product - and in turn, it's users and Bryce. PR may be very basic in it's content, but it's a refined "precision" product in what it does. These are things that "CAN NOT" be altered in order to make another "accurate" product, so if some hack decides to alter PR's synthesis rules, then the downloaders of such crap deserve all they get - 'cos if it doesn't have the pumeco logo on it, it's not the genuine article - and you'll be teaching yourself mangled-up bullsh*t!
I've got a little something up my sleeve in order to help prevent such things, but that's all it can do, "help" to prevent it. What I've got planned will be announced when I decide to release PR.
Anyway, I'm real glad I started this thread, 'cos there's a lot of stuff being posted I didn't know about. So if there's any other "hidden" extras ya think I should know, then please post away!
Len.
