THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Oh Brother where art thou?....

Seems AgentSmith has alot on his platter these days, especially as he's with family, we all know how visiting family can go, so for the challenges please be patient, (I still can't create the challenge page or update the header yet)......I will keep you all aprised of what's happening...

In the meantime consider this a break for some relaxation, maybe take some art courses, I'm learning the art of matte painting for cinema from Dylan Cole (LOTR, Chronicles of Riddick, Day after Tomorrow, etc) or a chance to take some Bryce Courses online, catch up on your Bryce tutorials, or modeling projects....

Also a good time to clean out those overloaded preset files, create new presets, or just organize the presets you have.....Practice in the DTE, learn the power that the DTE can give you to create your own textures, it can be addictive once you get it down....

geez.....;P @ICM, yup, I'm working on the Cityscapes DVD, and then I'll do the Landscapes and Advanced, time I got the old grey matter working, and I'm hoping it'll spark some ideas for Bryce images, as I'm at a standstill in that dept....besides Rochr does such cool post to get the images he wants and I do very little post if any, thought it was time to learn how to enchance my work....and lern something new...=) I'm so excited.... I have a list of the DVDs from Gnomon that I want to get there are some digital instructors that I've wanted to lern from for awhile too. [But I may have to learn Maya or Lightwave as well, now there's some cash outlay...=( ]

Have you spent any time at MattePainting.org ? Great place to explore, lots of interaction & resource. Gnomon DVDs, I probably have the same list. Yup, Once I get through these Creative Suite DVDs I'll be looking at Gnomon stuff & most likely Maya. I've done quite a few, take a look when you get a chance. I'm on my way to your Gallery. Rod

Zhann, check out Cinema4D's demo before plopping money on Maya or LW. I recommend core and AR as a base.

I have C4D Art Release7 with Body Paint, and have been learning it slowly as I have the time, I may upgrade to 9 though if I decide to use it as my 'main' app.

Not sure what was in 7 (I went from 6CE+ to 8.5 Core with Adv Render Module, then 9 with AR2, now upgrading to 9.5 and contemplating adding BP.) Can't promise to be able to answer all questions, but I do promise to try if you have any.

That's a promise, I do have questions though, LOTS of questions, like how to set up a basic landscape for one...=) I really like the multiple layered shaders, hoping to fool with those for some realistic landscape textures...

Naughty question! That's one of the things I use bryce for. Although there is a promising plugin being developed to do vegitation and now fractal landscapes in c4d. Back in a minute.

Samir Kharchi - this is probably going to be my second paid plugin (interposer pro being the first). I think there is a landscape object in here but without the power of SubPoly Displacement in AR2 I think that is kinda lame. Thus I usually work the terrains in bryce and export at a medium res. The drop into c4d and apply a texture with spd and bump - check out my "star" image for an example.

Guess I'll do terrains in Vue5Infinite or Bryce for now, that is a lame looking terrain........

Actually it starts working well when you actually get into it. He has posted some examples on CGTalks Cinema Forum that looked much better. Still for one guy working alone, replicating bryce inside cinema, it is coming along. Until then, I stick with bryce for terrains though.
