Subject: Quick Wardrobe Wizard/Clothing Poll

byAnton ( ) posted Fri, 09 September 2005 at 10:11 PM · edited Fri, 10 January 2025 at 5:00 AM

Hi there, I was having an interesting conversation recently and it got me thinking so I thought I would ask to gather some info. Here is the poll: Since getting Wardrove Wizard whick ONE option best applies to you in regards to new clothing: A) I still get as much new clothing as before getting WW. B) I find that I don't get as much new clothing as before getting WW. C) I rarely look/browse for new clothing since getting WW. Thanks for choosing one. :)

A) I still get as much new clothing as before getting WW. My figures can now share clothes.

A) I still get as much new clothing as before getting WW. In fact, I am more apt to pay more for the clothes I do get now, since the benefit of sharing spreads the amount across the other figures.

rain ( ) posted Fri, 09 September 2005 at 10:25 PM

A) would be my answer. And I now look at more outfits than I did before because I know I can use them on the characters I pose with the most.

A) I still get as much new clothing as before getting WW. But not as much for the female,... which I have way too much, but always looking for more male and kids clothes.

A is my answer too. I now look at something knowing it can fit several characters

A. Some character's I'm not real fond of but I like the outfit. WW allows me to fit to my favorites.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

momodot ( ) posted Fri, 09 September 2005 at 11:24 PM

I buy more, much more... there is more value to a clothes now. Don't know hoe to use the pre-existing analysis though. May artists include thos with their product package?

Letterworks ( ) posted Fri, 09 September 2005 at 11:26 PM

Short answer is A: Longer answer: I love Wardrobe Wizard. If anything I purchase more clothing now that I can get "more for my money". Creative and diversified clothing is the key to attracting my eye (and money). Another thing I've noticed is that WW is not perfect... some types of clothing don't transfer as well as others, situations such as the "wavy hair" syndrome have shown up in some clothing I've tried to convert, so there is still room for conversions made by the modeler. mike

A I have a deeper appreciation of well fitting and easily posed clothes now. They are much nicer then the ones I've chewed up in WW. I'm not good at WW.

AntoniaTiger ( ) posted Sat, 10 September 2005 at 12:58 AM

It's too soon for me to be sure, but I am looking at items with WW in mind, knowing some pairs of figures seem to work better than others. It's changing what I buy, where there is a choice, but it's coincided with an outbreak of items I have little interest in. On the Daz site, Spain and "Desolation Earth" just aren't doing anything for me. Maybe that reaction is part of why I bought WW.

A). And if the clothing is specifically deesigned for two different characters and I want that clothing for both I would still rather have the originals than my WW versions. In fact it's probably option d) I get more clothing than before. I never use V2 but if there's a V2 outfit I would get it for my V3 as I can now make it fit. Also I always use a morphed V3 and before WW I used to only ever buy clothing with morphs for muscle and tone, but since WW i bought "just an ordinary blouse" and some other things that don't have morphs, because I can still make them fit my V3. I buy more and pay more. An example would be an outfit for Aiko 3 I liked but would not buy because I 'really' wanted it for V3. Have it now because of Wardrobe Wizard. Helen

A for me as well. Actually I'm buying more clothing now. For instance I don't use Koshini but I just bought a bunch of RDNA's Koshini real deals in order to use them on Terai Yuki. I've been buying more figures as well. I wouldn't have purchased Terai Yuki or Miki if they didn't have WW support. I've also been digging out older figures that I haven't really used because of a lack of available clothing.

Oh yeah... I'm also finding that I'm picking up character addon packages that I wouldn't have dreamed of getting before. I picked up some plus figure gals and some older characters with less than perfect body shapes, because I know that with WW I can easily fit the clothing to the different body shapes.

A. For example I have started to buy again M3 (which I don't like and never use) clothes because I can convert them to David etc.

SAMS3D ( ) posted Sat, 10 September 2005 at 4:43 AM

B) I find that I don't get as much new clothing as before getting WW. Before I do buy I try the WW, if it works good, then I don't buy it. I feel like I am a minority. Sharen

TigerD ( ) posted Sat, 10 September 2005 at 5:46 AM

I've temporarily stopped buying clothes while I use WW to adapt what I've got. By the way, I find that if I use the advanced (unwelded/unregrouped) option, I can make the clothing conform by running it through Clothes Converter, which I had first, but never really used. I will still buy new clothing, though, but it will have, shall we say, a broader appeal?

Dizzi ( ) posted Sat, 10 September 2005 at 5:47 AM

D) Has nothing to do with wardrobe wizard, but i lately see a lot of stuff that looks similar to something i already own (for the very same character, so not a WW thing) or will never ever use (like non contemporary or non Scifi stuff). So i'm buying more environment stuff lately.

Porthos ( ) posted Sat, 10 September 2005 at 6:13 AM

E: im gonna be buying MORE clothing now that i have this sucker. i didnt used to buy stuff for v3. or david. or any other cool clothing for characters i didnt own. now, though... oh dear, oh dear! (not that i ever bought a lot of clothing before.)

ChuckEvans ( ) posted Sat, 10 September 2005 at 7:01 AM

(A) - And I feel better knowing it will go on other characters. But, BEFORE WW, I had become picky...I mean, to make a sale to me, you had to measure up to As Shanim or Blackhearted (not counting PC $1.99 items...wink).

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Sat, 10 September 2005 at 7:03 AM

A: I buy more now as well because I'm no longer limited to using the outfit on ONE character. I can buy the ooutfit if I like the CLOTHES without worrying about if it'll fit David or not. (or whichever character I need it for)

A as well ... I might even buy things for characters I normally wouldn't clothe

randym77 ( ) posted Sat, 10 September 2005 at 9:13 AM

Short answer: A), mainly because I am lazy and would rather have the clothing fit "out of the box" than convert it myself. WW is great, but it is work, and the results can be uneven.

Longer answer: I am buying fewer really cheap clothes. (Pro Club and PC items, for example.) Before, I might have bought both the V3 and SP versions, say, or both the M3 and David versions. Now that I have WW, I buy only one, figuring if I want it for another figure, I can convert it.

It's not impacting my purchases of full-price clothing, because I wouldn't buy both versions of anything that cost more than a couple of bucks.

BastBlack ( ) posted Sat, 10 September 2005 at 11:55 AM

A is the simplest answer. But it's more accurate for me to say I've changed what I buy. I'm no longer limited to "Buy anything that's made for M3 if not too expensive." What I'm doing now is: a) "Buy quality clothing, it doesn't matter who it was made for." and b) "Buy anything in my areas of interest, it doesn't matter who it was made for." (Feudal Japan, and Ancient Egypt for instance) bB

KateTheShrew ( ) posted Sat, 10 September 2005 at 2:06 PM

D. None of the above. I've had to buy a few things since getting wardrobe wizard, but it has nothing to do with having that particular program. Rather, my purchases have been the result of necessity - I didn't have the particular style of clothing in my arsenal and they were needed for a project I was working on. Having said that, Wardrobe Wizard came in very handy for this particular project since at one point I needed to get one of the maid outfits to fit on either Mike 3 or the Vicky 3 Male. (I opted for the V3 male as it was easier to get the stockings and shoes to fit by not morphing the feet and legs, whereas with M3 it was a pain in the patootie to get him into a pair of pumps.) Kate

kobaltkween ( ) posted Sat, 10 September 2005 at 4:59 PM

D. More than before. The few clothing items I've bought in the past month or so I've bought because of Wardrobe Wizard. With the number of new figures that have come out in the past several months, on top of the ones I know are in development, I can't assume that my present favorite character will be my choice in the future. I know of several characters in the works that I like better than anything out now, even assuming a new year doesn't bring a new primary DAZ male and female.

A. - because I'm about the only person on the planet who bought WW, ran it over a couple of items, was sorely disappointed, and has never used it again.

Acadia ( ) posted Sun, 11 September 2005 at 1:05 AM

Also, I find that I have been using more freebie items than I did in the past. I've seen so many great looking things for V2 that I had to pass up because I use V3. Now that I have WW, I've been able to download them and fit them to V3. I can't imagine ever going back to using Poser without WW.

A is the answer for me as well. Even though the result of WW is not that perfect in some converted item, but it open the new world for the figures that don't have much of the "cool" clothing.
