Subject: CRPro II is now available! (Full version and upgrade)

hogwarden ( ) posted Tue, 13 September 2005 at 8:11 AM ยท edited Tue, 22 October 2024 at 4:19 AM

Hi all... CRPro II is on the shelves! Another 6 months in development, it takes the program to new levels of simplicity and strength:) 'cos my fingers are worn to a nub, I'm pasting the product blurbs here, but first a couple of things: CRPro II comes in two flavours. The full version is for new users while a (I hope very reasonable) upgrade version is available for those who already own CRPro. For each sale of the full or upgrade I'm donating approx $1.50 to a local art-based charity who do some great work in my town. I can post some more info on Artscape if requested:) Here goes with the blurb........

CorrectReference Professional is a stand-alone utility for Curious Labs Poser 3, 4, 5 and Propack. CorrectReference and CRPro are copyright 2002-2005 Hogsoft. Poser is a trademark of Curious Labs and E-Frontier. 75p (about $1.50) from each sale is donated to an art-based charity!

artscape.jpgCRPro II (2.1.1.23)

The basics:
Poser's library files contain 'references' to other files such as texture images and geometry mesh files. Generally, these references work well but misplaced files or incorrect references can cause all sorts of problems. Poser itself is notoriously sensitive to bad references: incorrect geometry references will cause Poser 4 to crash when it attempts to load the library file, while bad texture references often lead to an endless loop of 'locate file' dialogues. Squeaky-clean references in your libraries will provide many benefits: Your Poser library files will load more quickly and without spitting out errors, your distributed content will work out-of-the-box without end-users having to tweak the files, Poser will not 'lock' the library folders to PBooost and you will know that your content will always be in tip-top shape, ready for the rigours of even the most demanding Poser session.

But this is just the beginning. CRPro II has much, much more to offer both the professional and the casual Poser user...

What CRPro II will fix in your libraries:
Bullet01.jpg Corrects image references to texture, bump, reflection and transparency references in P4 and P5 style materials so they explicitly point to exactly the right file and path. CRPro II looks deeply into the syntax of reference lines:
BulletSpacer.jpg Repairs missing "0 0" lines after image references in P4 materials,
BulletSpacer.jpg Fixes missing, incomplete or incorrect quotation marks,
BulletSpacer.jpg Repairs incorrectly defined null or blank references,
BulletSpacer.jpg Enumerates getStringRes calls and checks the existence of the underlying file,
BulletSpacer.jpg Repairs references to PICT images if the file is actually a TIFF.
Bullet01.jpg Corrects geometry mesh references so they explicitly point to exactly the right file and path. In addition to many of the syntax checks described above, CRpro II also:
BulletSpacer.jpg Repairs references to an OBJ file if the file is actually an OBZ and vice-versa.
Bullet01.jpg Corrects injection (readScript) references in your 3rd generation figures so they explicitly point to exactly the right file and path and, in addition to the usual syntax checks,
BulletSpacer.jpg Repairs file compression irregularities in injection references (pz2/p2z etc.).
Bullet01.jpg Corrects Poser 6 PMD (binary morph file) references.
Bullet01.jpg Unwanted RSR or PNG thumbnails can be automatically removed during the scan.
Bullet01.jpg All references to duplicate files are dealt with intelligently and safely.
Bullet01.jpg Options to deal with bump references in a variety of ways depending on your content.
Bullet01.jpg Corrects incorrect file-types in your Poser libraries. i.e. ".pz2" mat poses in your camera libraries are changed to ".cm2" etc.

What makes it so powerful and easy to use:
Bullet01.jpg Designed to be fully compatible with Poser 3, 4, 5, 6 and Propack.
Bullet01.jpg Invisibly scans compressed and uncompressed content files.
Bullet01.jpg Dry-run scans can be performed showing you exactly what CRPro II would like to repair.
Bullet01.jpg Special quarantine folder where unwanted files are placed so they retain their path structure.
Bullet01.jpg Super-efficient Direct Disk Read scanning routines give the speed you expect with much reduced memory useage.
Bullet01.jpg You can organise your textures and geometries folders as you like, then run CRPro on the library to re-fix all the references in one hit.
Bullet01.jpg All windows and dialogues have an information bar giving you detailed instructions and hints.
Bullet01.jpg When manually selecting from duplicate files a thumb is shown together with useful file details.
Bullet01.jpg Choose a folder in which to start the scan either from CRPro II or from the right-click menu in Windows Explorer.
Bullet01.jpg Choose from a list of previously scanned folders.
Bullet01.jpg Scan your whole library, a particular folder or even selected files.
Bullet01.jpg Filter the file browser to only show Poser library files and folders which contain them.
Bullet01.jpg All functions are accessable through tool-buttons for quick access and useability.
Bullet01.jpg Quickly set up all your texture, geometry and injection folders once and only once.
Bullet01.jpg Automatically chooses the appropriate textures, geometries and injections folders for the selected content.
Bullet01.jpg References to unfound files are quick and easy to fix in the incredible new unfound files tool.
Bullet01.jpg Scan options can be altered individually or standard scan profiles can be used.
Bullet01.jpg CRPro II can automatically choose the appropriate scan profile for the selected content.
Bullet01.jpg Save your own scan profiles with your own preferred settings.
Bullet01.jpg Colour-highlighted scan log gives you a detailed account of the scan in plain English.
Bullet01.jpg Options to load scan logs as you browse, save logs after each scan and delete logs.
Bullet01.jpg Scan priority options allow you to choose how much of the processor to give to CRPro II during a scan.
Bullet01.jpg Audible spoken signals can tell you when the scan is completed and the outcome.

**Extra tools and features:
** Bullet01.jpg Create real zip files from entire products or packages ready for immediate distribution via an intuitive new tool
Bullet01.jpg Safely remove content together with all dependant files in a similar way to making a zip
Bullet01.jpg Intelligently move or copy content and dependant files to another runtime or folder in a similar way to making a zip.
Bullet01.jpg Option to only scan files which have changed since they were last scanned.
Bullet01.jpg Make all references to a file point to another file, delete a file and make it's references point elsewhere or even rename a file and correct it's references to point to the new path!
Bullet01.jpg Identify and remove unused textures and geometries through a new wizard-like interface.
Bullet01.jpg Remove empty folders starting from a chosen folder.
Bullet01.jpg Compatible with utilities such as PhilC's Wardrobe Wizard.
Bullet01.jpg Includes a copy of the Hogsoft Utility Hub - a central point for working with Poser and related utilities.

**System requirements:
** Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP, Pentuim 133 or higher processor, 256MB RAM (>512MB recommended), video with 800x600 pixels and 16M colours minimum recommended.

The scan options have multiplied! (But you don't *have* to go in here if you prefer to work with the standard scan profiles)

I already got the upgrade, 'cause CR Pro has been the most usefull Poser app I ever purchased. Question though; is there a summary of the major changes between this and the last version. (I suspect some of them may be specific to the changes between Poser 5 & 6.) Curious minds want to know.

Intel Core I7 3090K 4.5 GhZ (overclocked) 12-meg cache CPU, 32 Gig DDR3 memory, GeoForce GTX680 2gig 256 Bit PCI Express 3.0 graphic card, 3 Western Difgital 7200 rpm 1 Tb SATA Hard Drives

Hi Terry... Hehe... glad you find CRPro useful!! Yes... I answered a thread asking exactly the same question today at http://www.hogsoft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=164 although it's difficult to list all the changes since CRPro I's most recent patch as my brain now hurts quite badly:)) Addled! I realise I've not really "sold" the update:) But I can assure everyone that it is far from a bug-fix release. All the bugs in CRPro1 were sorted on the subsequent free patches... the update contains serious changes to the operation, UI and functionality of the program, some requested by the Poser professionals and others thought out here at Hogsoft, which I'm certain will make it worth the "price of a pack of fags"... hehe... you don't get fags in packets in the US, I guess, just in bars and at the roller disco:)) LOL! H:))

A little on Artscape... Artscape is a charitable organisation (charitable status in progress) based in Petersfield, Hampshire UK. They ahve premises in the tonw and, twice a week, they open up for the day. It's a place where people with mental health problems can go to create great art! They have a couple of professional ert-workers who help the attedees to express themslves through their chosen medium. My goal is to set them up with a decent art PC with a good monitor, Poser, Bryce, Photoshop/PSP, fractal software, a decent dig. camera and printer and give them an afternoon/week tuition (for free, of course!) and advice on their computer-based artwork projects. Some of the art Artscape has helped to cultivate so far is wonderful... and the benefits to those involved is beyond question:) H:))

Re the upgrade - if you had CRPro I and found it useful, but perhaps a tad challenging to use (not Howard's fault, more a measure of the complexity of the task attempted), then you'll be VERY glad to buy the upgrade. Besides the feature improvements, it has numerous small changes throughout which plain make it easier and more intuitive to use. I assure you you'll find a few features in CRPro II that were there in CRPro I - just because they are so much more accessible now. If you have P6 you'll also want the upgrade, not just because CL/eF made some (oddball) design changes making CRPro even more necessary, but because P6 content was shipped in such an appaling state it really needs a CRPro pass before use! CRPro I will still work with P6, but won't be able to ferret out some of the wrinkles in the new stuff. BTW, Howard has his own store at www.hogsoft.com, if you catch my drift.
