Hi guys, Ive seen a thread about this problem before, but I cant find it. I keep getting these annoying patterns on my figures since I began using raytracing. (12 bounces) Any ideas? As always, I appreciate the help. Thanks

There are no gells attached in the matroom to this light? And why 12 bounces? I only see a reflective necklace. 3 bounces and you'll save a ton of resourses. 2nd wag, a glitch in an IBL setup. I did this once. (attached)

"no gells attached in the matroom" - I'm not following you... (I'm still pretty new at this) I probably should've mentioned that I'm using P6's "Country" light set with "Raytrace" shadows checked for each light.

jt,

In the matroom, click on lights one at a time and see if there is an imagemap connected to them. One might be connected wrong, though I cannot tell you the right way

You really only want one RayTrace (sun) or as a single spot. Use infinites for fill light and/or a few IBL's for fill. Not such a hog on power this way.

Nothing wrong with mutiple RayTraces but, not a good way to learn if you're waiting for the render half a day...

An easy way is to use area render on shoulder and eliminate lights one at a time unti; you find the culprit

You shouldn't set an IBL light to have raytraced shadows, since this is essentially a gel (the light is being cast through the IBL image, causing the weird shadows you see). Make sure that whatever lights you want to cast shadows are not IBL lights.
