Subject: thumbnails don't show...help

-BrandyE- ( ) posted Sat, 17 September 2005 at 12:41 PM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 6:43 PM

I have a couple of characters and their thumbnail images don't show. It's really annoying, because they are packages with lots of extra options. I looked in the files and the thumbs are .png files. (I am using poser 6) Can anyone tell me what might be the problem and how I can fix it? Thanks!

A few possibilities. - Do the names of the .png EXACTLY match the names of the .cr2/.pz2/.pp2 files? If not, rename the .png files. - Do the folders also contain matching .rsr files? If so, delete them. - You can force a refresh of the library view by moving to another folder within the same category (figures, props) and then move back. The thumbnails now should be reloaded.

There's another trick (alpha channel) in the unlikely event you are using OS X.

As you're talking about lots of extra options... There's a setting in the general preferences to only show text when there's a certain number of items in the folder. Edit Menu -> General Preferences -> Library Tab

THank you so much for the tips - I really appreciate them. I am using WIN XP.. I tried getting rid of the .rsr files and double checked the fail names are the same, still no joy, lol. THank you again for trying to help - much appreciated. Hugs - Brandy aka webster2772

Do the thumbs not show at all in that folder, or do you get some thumbs and some blank ones, or do you get the shrugging guy?

In those folders where it doesn't show, I don't get any of them. Here's a screen shot. Thanks again!

Yeah... I have had this problem before and I believe it's down to the alpha channel on the .png. If you try importing the .png into a graphics program, can you see it okay in there?

yes - I can view it on my screen , either by opening it in psp or by double clicking on it. :0)

How about opening the .png in PSP, flatten the layers, and resave as a .png - will it show then?

You may be able to fix them by converting the RSRs with P3DO explorer (if yarp found a workaround, see http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=2225465#8 ).

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I installed P3DO Explorer with the plugins and converted the pngs to rsr files, then back to png files and it worked! WooHoo! Thanks again - Brandy
