rowlando ( ) posted Thu, 22 September 2005 at 6:06 AM · edited Sat, 15 February 2025 at 4:06 PM

Hi Can anyone tell me why I can't find the DAZ file in Poser 6. I installed Manually but can't find where it went. Can someone tell me the exact file DAZ should be installed in?? Thanks Rowlando

Ane specific reason why you didn't just let the installer pick the place for you? In that case, V3 will be in the Figures -> Daz People folder.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

But if you let the installer pick the place, it should go in the right spot :o/ What Poser version do you use? If it's 5 or 6, do you use multiple Runtimes? Are you looking, by any chance, in the Downloads Runtime? It won't go there, it goes in the normal Runtime It should go default in ...runtimelibrariescharacterDaz People

There's your problem right there. The DAZ installer puts the file into "libraries", not "libraies".

To check which Runtime you are using, just keep clicking the folder up icon until you cannot. Then select a runtime from there.
The choice is "Poser 5" for anything Poser 5 and above.

When you installed, did you really point it to install in the Runtimefigures folder explicitly? You only need to select the Poser install directory, "C:Program FilesCurious LabsPoser 6". You may find a you have something like this, which won't work: C:Program FilesCurious LabsPoser 6RuntimefiguresRuntimelibraries C:Program FilesCurious LabsPoser 6RuntimefiguresRuntimeGeometries C:Program FilesCurious LabsPoser 6RuntimefiguresRuntimetextures If so, you'll need to grab that second Runtime folder (inside of figures) and dump it onto C:Program FilesCurious LabsPoser 6" folder (using Explorer). This will move all of the contents into the correct folder levels.

C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg off.

RuntimeLibrariesCharacter is where your DAZ folder should be. Inside the Character folder. If it's not there, then you need to put it there.

But to end the endless discussion of where you put the files, why don't you just tell us? Word for word, what's the path to your file? Message edited on: 09/22/2005 08:11

When installing DAZ files (well, most of them) the installer will search your HD for any versions of Poser or DAZ|Studio and then allow you to select from them (it can take some time). All it needs is the top-level name; after that the installation should go smoothly. If you browsed down to a runtime (after stopping the search maybe?), then that's why they're in the wrong place.. DAZ does things its own way. I really wish they'd give the option of downloading a zip file that had it's root as "runtime" (I can find where to put things a lot faster than the installer can)... Cheers, Diolma

when I use the installer when I get to the page where it ask for the version I just delete out the 5 and put 6 in its place and the installer find Poser6 with no problem

You might as well PAY attention, because you can't afford FREE speech

HI All Thanks so much for your great support, yes I finally got it right. I simply told the installer to search for poser and it did. I then followed instructions must have been tired etc. Thanks all Rowlando
