I was thinking what we all would be saying 5 years from now with poser 8 (yeah it took them that long to release poser 8). Here's some things I thought of: Why in my day we used to have to do this thing called "rendering". We didn't have no new fangled real time rendering. Why in my day we had polygons. No spline figures for us. Why in my day we actually had to lay out an animation. We couldn't just write an action script and the computer did all the rest. Why in my day a render took an hour, not... well ok the P8 firefly still takes an hour. Why in my day we had models like V3 that had less than 10 million polygons.

originalkitten ( ) posted Wed, 21 September 2005 at 12:21 PM

why in my day poser wouldnt run on final render without crashing your machine....oh it still does that lmao...

The screen on my holographic interface is stuck in the upper right corner and I cant restore it.....and it wont let me undo. Plus the AI-Viki-5 unit refuses to put on any dynamic clothing and get out of the temple....she just keep threatening me with her sword.

2008? My Dual 5.0 GHz Intel machine, running Vista SR3, just suffered a meltdown of one of the CPUs when trying to render a NVITWS scene with 2 Vickie 4.0 figures, even though only 325 of the 679 morphs were injected. If only Poser 8 had dual processor support, maybe it wouldn't have heated up to 400 C. But look on the bright side - the new owners of Poser 8 are in Mumbai, so the technical support center is just down the street.

When I try to crush a brick from the rubble to make a red drawing paste out of I keep banging my knuckles. N.B. That is for the US edition only.

I was outputting my animation and got another Blue Screen of Death. Not only did Vicky 12 explode but my cat died.

Before they made me they broke the mold!

I heard Stonemason was able to patch over a self replicating viral routine into his neural interface, and create a small army of cyber-masons which he now contracts out to develop custom built luxury environments for the poser elite ;) Sorry Stef, I couldnt resist ;) Rawn

" I was outputting my animation and got another Blue Screen of Death. Not only did Vicky 12 explode but my cat died."

2010 and Poser 8 still doesn't support network rendering or multi-threading. That won't come till Poser XXXIV.

Poser 8.7, 2010: Conforming clothes never poke through and smart-fit perfectly to a totally morphed out character. So much for dreaming, back to postworking poke-throughs and dealing with exploding mags :O

DAZ develops a plugin for DAZ Studio 3.0 that will automatically deposit your paycheque into their account, thus keeping you completely up to date with all the latest content. Rawn

The error message is Vicki turning, looking at you and saying "I'm sorry, Dave; I'm afraid I can't do that."

Mason ( ) posted Wed, 21 September 2005 at 4:14 PM

Poser 8 will actually hook up to that chip implant the government puts in everyone's head. That way you can do all the 3d you want and not really produce anything.

Flak ( ) posted Wed, 21 September 2005 at 4:53 PM

The multiple undo button is only another few versions away.

Forum requests for Python script to make 10-gigapoly AI Vicky compatible with P4. "Dynamic Snot" room for Poser kids. "UNDO" still doesn't work properly. Your own personal Dr Geep hologram to explain the whole thing to you. Before SR1, trying to render with motion blur creates a global internet crash with LEFT FOREARM coming up on monitors everywhere. Despite over 3,000 different figures available, 3DS MAX users still say all Poser stuff looks the same. AI Poser Cat only loads if you offer it salmon. AI Poser Dog barks incessantly while rendering. 30 Premenstrual Moods for AI Vicky available in freestuff. Morphing Fantasy Anything - converts from loincloth to ballgown with every conceivable female outfit from the last 1000 years inbetween. Still only twelve decent outfits for Mike, though.

slinger ( ) posted Wed, 21 September 2005 at 7:37 PM

In my day my computer had less RAM then my toaster oven does now. In my day people used to bitch and moan about the slightest Poser problem online, knowing there was no real payback. Since they outlwawed those discussion forums because they were producing so many psychopaths the world is much saner. In my day Poser never produced holographic images. In my day Poser characters never had A.I. In my day Poser wasn't owned by Microsoft.

The liver is evil - It must be punished.

Poser news 2010..... Victoria V25 to be released soon, with 637 body morphs turbo injectors 600 of which are for breast size alone. Release candidate RC9 for Vic25 is delayed because Wyrmmaster is having trouble fitting the 923rd chest magnet in the interface at a standard resolution of 26000 x 48000 on the average 48" flat panel, he says he will persevere in his attempts. 3D mogul Stonemason the new owner of Poser announces at Siggraph2010 the imminent release of Poser multithreading plug-in for Windows XPLodePro2010, no Mac version for the Troglodyte OS in sight. Service release 099, dynamics problem of Vic's boobs falling through the floor with Wyrmmaster's magnets still not resolved....

2010---Poser 8 has been taken over by a new company. The app has been totally rebuilded.Poser has now a real bone system(the group editor doesn't break the mesh and bone influences can be weightend). There is a new skinning function and vertics can be translated to create costom morph targets. The content updater converts older content to the new file system. You can allready take full use of Poser before the first service release.

shedofjoy ( ) posted Mon, 26 September 2005 at 9:33 AM

and still i get "out of memory" on my 34Tb's of Ram...let alone Victoria 9's breasts poking through her dynamic clothing every time i include a second figure to the scene. and why is it there are still no genitals on Victoria????

Getting old and still making "art" without soiling myself, now that's success.
