Here's one nice collection of Vue Tutorials that might fit some of your needs. They work for Vue 4.1 and up...Here are two links in my tutorial section that could help you get the hang of mapping terrains:
Roadmaker will help you discover how to map a terrain in Vue 5:

They're some other tutorials out there that describe how to map ecosystems. These same principles apply to the very basic method of mapping a terrain. Look in the tutorial section in the backroom for more of these type of tutorials.
Mapping a terrain in Vue 4 is a little more complicated:

Afraid I can't be of any help with the splashes as I still battle them myself '-)...although now that I think of it, maybe wabe will join in with "his" technique of mapping vegetation with water .mats to create splashes?
However, for the footprints, assuming you have Poser?, you can use a boolean on the shoes/feet and the terrain as I did in this image...

This, of course, will take a bit of playing around to get what you're looking for, but it may be worth a try?

Hello, I would like to know if there is an easy way to do the following in Vue: 1. A way to create the illusion of footprints, tank treads, etc. behind a person/tank, etc. on a terrain. It wouldn't have to be more than a series of darker spots on the ground. Is it possible without drawing them in a postprocess. 2. I want to darken the ground around a fountain, as if the splashing water has wet the ground. Thanks, rps53
