No, no way. You either need a Cinema 4D version greater or equal to the file's version or Deep Exploration if it's an old v5 C4D file (unlikely). Where's the site? I have Cinema 4D from v6.3 - v9.1 installed. ;)
C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the
foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg
off.

http://www.meltinglight.com/ That's the site. I'm muchly interested in this stuff - http://www.meltinglight.com/pages/models4.html - both the cloak (posed as it is on screenshots) and the gargoyles. Some stuff from here is poserised like MissPolyGon or available as .obj's, but not the gargoyles. Should I search for something to convert the models or ask the creator could he convert those to .obj and send me/share them with community ?

The creator is willing to convert some of his files from .c4d to .obj's. BTW, he's a user here at Rendo :-) (ChrisHollins). Yay !

Yep, it's his R'osity nickname. Check out the freestuff area, he posted recently one of his .c4d models there (shoe polish I think).

Here's something that worked for me with C4D v8 until my full version came in: Download the demo version of C4D and install. Download and install the Riptide plugin - http://www.skinprops.com/ Open the .C4D file in C4D and export as OBJ via the Riptide plugin. This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. Without having Cinema4D installed, that is. I've found site with lots of free .c4d models, and some of them gave me cool ideas of potential use. But how to convert it to a format more Poser-friendly ? Is it possible ?
