Its all part of a continuing internet trend that started last year after the Roaring 90's bubble-burst. During 2001 a lot more internet providers will be consolidating, down-sizing and in some cases, just plain going out of business... In the Dubya-O's (what else can we call this decade?) I think many people are discovering that the laws of physics and rational business plans also apply to the internet...

I had a driveway account and received the same message...however, I also have a freedrive account and they announced that they have deleted public file sharing also. This probably means they will be eliminating their storage facilities eventually also.

An added thought to the disappearing 'freebies'... I am afraid it is going to continue until they join the dinosaurs and become extinct. What we are seeing (in my opinion) is a war to control the Internet coming on between MicroBill Gates and AOL-Time Warner [a.k.a.,Ted Turner]. As they gain power the small dudes are going to go under. I am not able to make the connection as to why this is affecting 'for free' sites, but there is a pattern here somewhere to be found.
