Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 11 12:18 am)
Does anyone know if a Mac version is being produced? I see it's PC only. Would be a great way (and a cheaper way) to get poser figs into Maya.

I think it converts only the Daz3D base figures, but not other figures or clothing. This is a very limiting factor in my book.
I might still buy it, but there is no demo available or any other way to gauge the quality of the rigging.
Does anyone have first-hand experience with this program?
You know what is right for you. I know what is right for me.
bm I'm looking at the 3dsmax version...does anyone have experience with it? does it carry a non-supported rig over to max at all?(even if it does need tweaking) I know there's scripts to convert max bones to biped, has anyone tried this for it to work in CS? Staby..there is a video preview for the 3dsmax version that might give you an idea of what you get, however you'll need to go through a convoluted registration process to get to it. Cheers Stefan
"I know there's scripts to convert max bones to biped" Stefan, do you have any links to such a script? I'd love to have this, as I have not been able to find anything that does the bones to biped conversion, only the other way around.
Tools : 3dsmax 2015, Daz Studio 4.6, PoserPro 2012, Blender
v2.74
System: Pentium QuadCore i7, under Win 8, GeForce GTX 780 / 2GB
GPU.
I saw it mentioned at cgtalk when I was downloading the 'rigging army knife' script...that one can convert a biped to max bones ..(but we want it the other way around) I'll track down the link tomorrow Stefan
Maxx..no go I'm afraid, I must've been thinking of the army knife script(which looks very handy after viewing the demo video but which works the other way around :( autodesk now own CS so maybe they'll work on a solution
"Maxx..no go I'm afraid, I must've been thinking of the army knife script(which looks very handy after viewing the demo video but which works the other way around :( autodesk now own CS so maybe they'll work on a solution" Ah, well thanks for checking anyway. I hope we get a solution for that from Autodesk soon. Would be nice to have that ability, but only if the conversion is solid. I think the current version of CS has some problems with Physique; something that complicates a clean translation from bones to CS rig. Not sure what it is exactly, but that's what I heard somewhere... I'm sure it's fixable though.

Alias brought out this FBX converter about a year ago for Windoze, Linux and Mac. It is a standalone product that does not need anything else on your harddrive (like the presence of LW, Maya, XSI, etc.). You must register for a Bronze-level membership. Alias will not spam you with unwanted email. The FBX converter is free. There are also plugins available for LW, 3DS Max, Maya, XSI, and QuickTime.
