There are almost as many modeling programs as people who use them! The best thing to do is download demos of programs you are interested and try them out to get a feel for which one suits your needs best. You will find many free ones, low cost ones and of course the high end ones. As for Cr2's, a good text editor is a must and you will find many tutorials in the forums to get you started on those.

Quick Conform works ok, its not free but cheap. I use a program called Poser File Editor.........not cheap either but very useful, link: you will need to make sure your figure is grouped also before making a cr2 file.Message edited on: 10/02/2005 11:19
Before you get too purchase-happy, remember all you really need to make conforming clothing is Poser, and an object file to import. For more options, add the text editor of your choice -- and it doesn't have to be anything fancy (NotePad or whatever will do fine). On the modelling side, you need something that can make a clean vertex object (or that you can convert to that form). It is extremely helpful to have some options for UVmapping as well, otherwise your new clothing will lack patterns. Steve Cox's UVmapper still has a freeware version last I checked. Yes, all these programs...Quick Conform, Tailor, Wardrobe Wizard, Mat Pose Creator, Easy-Pose Underground, are wonderful to speed the workflow and my hat is off to those who created them. But their existance should not mislead one into thinking that rigging for Poser is something you can only do with specialized tools.
Take a look at Silo www.nevercenter.com It is about to reach version 2 and if you buy now ($109 is cheap for you get in 1.4) you upgrade for free. For clothes modelling, this is a good choice. It is primarily a subdivision modeler but also has a geometry brush that is ideal for this work (just draw the geometry you want over the figure). Better still, version two will add UV mapping and displacement painting, again, ideal for what you want to do. There are some preview videos you can watch there. You also have a full demo for 30 days.
I'm sure that it won't have the same power as ZBrush for displacement but it will allow you to detail a model in a similar fashion - for a fraction of the price. This should allow for a lot of detail on a low res mesh, for clothes that could mean folds, wrinkles, pockets, buttons, broaches/badges, and so forth.
I make all my stuff (much of which is at DAZ) in Max 3.1. I also don't use ANY store-bought utilities, other than UV Mapper Pro to make my stuff. I find most of the 3rd part stuff either buggy or for tasks I either do another way. However, there are a ton of essential Freeware utilities, including Objaction Scaler, the Habaware plug-ins, CR2 Editor, PHI Builder and others. What I'm tring to say is you can't buy your way to making Poser clothing, you have to do your homework, lots of homework. It is far more complicated that it seems! ;-)

I want to make some clothes for DAZ figures and convert into poser "cr2" those kinda files, but don't know which software people usually use, 3dsmax ? Rhino ? and how it work ? anybody know
