Hey.... Well, the true amatour in me is desperatly seeing some guidance. As you probably know, i got my filters the other day...YAY for that at least. And tonight, just for the fun of it, i tried out that IR-filter. Everything went well....till i decided to pack away my gear....how the blank blank do you un-screw the darn thing????? Grandmas old jam-jars are nothing compared to this. HOW CAN THEY GET THAT STUCK??? I like to recall reading somewhere about some pointers on how to unscrew your filter....but dont remember where. So any help at all in the matter is greatly appriciated....sigh... Ashamed me... hide.gif

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

This has happened to me on occasion; try heating the filter with a hot towel or something similar. It should expand and loosen. Or try to unscrew it very genially sometimes when you grip them hard it can affect the grip that the two threads have on one another. Simon

Okay...will try that as well. It has actually gotten stuck every time ive screwed them on. I think the bastards have an agenda of their own....holding on for dear life. Easiest thing would probably be to have a filter-ring for each of the filters, lol. Thanks Simon. #:O)

Viking blood...lol. I hope it all turns out well, but ya have to admit it is kinda funny. Try using one of those jar-grippy-thingies. It has happened to me before too. I can't blame it on the Viking blood in my viens though. I think it has more to do with wearing out the joysticks on those early Commodore64 games, sigh. Well, I look forward to seeing how the photos turn out! 8o]

Filters usually have a male thread and the lens female, if you warm the filter it will cause it to stick even more ! Rubber gloves ! Hold the camera and push it face/filter down into the palm of your other hand - twist. If this does not undo it. Keep camera in a warm room for at least an hour. Put the camera, lens down/filter first, on a pack of frozen vegetables (peas are ideal). Cooling a male thread is the way to loosen it ! Repeat above process with rubber gloves.

And every one said, 'If we only live,
We too will go to sea in a Sieve,---
To the hills of the Chankly Bore!'
Far and few, far and few, Are the lands where the Jumblies live;
Their heads are green, and their hands are blue, And they went to sea in a Sieve.

Rubber gloves If rubber gloves are not readily available and you need to "get a better grip", wrap a rubber band around the filter -- just the filter ... then try turning. MGD
