Subject: PS 6.0 & PS CS2 - how to cheat in photoshop (I have a kinda stupid question)

umm... I'm kinda new here, so if this is in the wrong place, just let me know and I'll delete it or move it, or whatever...

anyway, I was at Barnes & Noble today, and I wandered into the Graphic Design section for the first time ever (lol sad, but true...) the thing is, I found a book that looked extremely interesting. I don't know if anyone else has used it or heard of it, 'How To Cheat in Photoshop' by Steve Caplin? It's got a lot of good information on perspective and creating scenes. I have just one problem...
I'm still using PS 6.0, and some of the information is specific to PS CS2 - not all of it, but some of it.
on the other hand, I have a very fat book called 'Inside Adobe Photoshop 5' by Gary David Bouton & Barbara Bouton which has some of the same stuff and a lot of different stuff (except that it had a CD with it, and well... the CD bit the dust)...

basically, what I'm trying to decide is this: is it worth paying the $40 to buy the book if I get a lot of good information out of it that I can use in PS 6.0?

i usually spend $40 on coffee while i read and jot notes from the books ;)

i do know the book has been updated to reflect the current version of PS but i also know it still has the base stuff that made it useful when it was first published...

as for doling out $$ for books... there are worse things to toss it on.

:)

You might want to try Amazon.com and see if they have similiar books targeted at PS 6.0. Though I do agree with retrocity in "there being worse things to toss it on."

The book before the one you're referring to is named "How To Cheat In Photoshop - Second Edition" and if you want to search Amazon or some other book vendor site the ISBN is 0-240-51953-1 and 40 bucks is not too much. I've spent double that on other books and training material. You might want to check out Steve's "How To Cheat.." site too ? http://www.howtocheatinphotoshop.com/home.html Be well and have fun ! -- Jiger --
