Subject: New to Photoshop - strange (dumb) question

I just purchased Adobe CS2 (educational). I have some .bmp files I need to convert. When I select Open, there is no option for .bmp file format (nor is there the option to save in .bmp format). No .bmp's show in the Open dialog. The options are quite limited compared to Paint Shop. Is this a normal scenario or perhaps because I have the educational version. The Adobe site claims the product is the same for regular and educational. Did I goof up the install somehow or is there a setting I missed?

Don't know if these help you any or not. I don't use CS2 but hopefully the Open & Save As look pretty much like the screen shots of PS7..

I decided to reinstall just Photoshop - ran the reinstall and magically .bmp and all the other formats were there. I'm a happy camper. thanks

I'm glad you got it fixed.. Your files are much neater then mine. That's why I did the screen shot on one that didn't have anything in it.

Yeah, they are neat:) Only two saves for one render, man! I have about 10 for each scene, bloody drive space is out the window lol.

I never intended to make art.

In a former life, I was a librarian. The neatness thing just carried over :-)
