Subject: Can't upload or see images

claridad ( ) posted Mon, 10 October 2005 at 12:57 AM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 12:29 PM

For about a week I have been trying to upload an image. However, when I can get it successfully uploaded, it appears like I'm viewing a blown up thumbnail. That's when I can see an image at all. My file for the image is in .jpg and 126KB, my file for the thumb is .jpg and 10KB. I also cannot view My Gallery images or the Gallery for the site at times. I have been successful at uploading and view my image on another gallery site, with no problems. In trying to fix the problem I have deleted all cookies, temporary Internet files, and I have set my clock back 1 hour. No of these efforts have helped. Can someone help me? Thanks, Suzanne

hi suzanne.. i can see your images & thumbs just fine.. since you've already deleted all your temp files/cache & checked your time...refreshed?... but still having trouble... did you log out of RR before hand & try logging back in afterwards?

Thanks for your reply Cynthia. I can see my old images in my gallery fine too, tonight. The ability to view is sporadic. Sometimes all I can see is the text under the non-viewable images. I again tried to upload my image, which resulted in the appearance of a thumb blown up. Then, I tried an image I created today with the same blown up thumb appearance. I've checked my file sizes etc., and everything is as it should be, meeting the criteria for submission. I also viewed my images in IE browser window and it appeared as it should. I have refresed, logged out and logged in again, deleted cookies, temp files, etc. Nothing works. Can you suggest anything else? I'm going to try to attach my file here to test if it works in the forum. Thanks for your help Cynthia. I'm getting so frustrated. Sure hope you or somebody can pull something out of you magic hat. Suzanne

Wow! The image loaded just fine in the forum. So why am I having trouble uploading it to my gallery? Anyone have an idea? Suzanne

OK I tried to upload my image for the umpteenth time. It still looked like a blown up thumb. So I decided to save it to disk and check it out. My heavens, a thumb is in the gallery, although I uploaded the correct image. So I have a thumb with a link to a thumb. For some reason, in the uploading process my image file is getting converted to a thumbnail image instead of the actual file size of 750 x 500. HELP! Please! Suzanne

It sounds like you are getting the thumb and mail image files swapped around during the upload...? Remember on the upload screen, the first box is for the image, the second the for the thumb. Try leaving the thumb completely blank and see if the main image still gets distorted? Also can you give an example of an image in your gallery which is showing distorted for you so we can check if it's the same here. And which browser are you using? Have you tried with another browser?

Uh... Claridad, there is definitely something wrong with the site. So rest assured, it's not you. Everybody else is complaining about the same problems, and right now I can't see an image in the gallery either. Not one. And yesterday I couldn't see my linked images on one of my product pages in the marketplace. They're showing up now, but I still can't see any gallery images. I guess R'osity will get it together though, because we get a lot of our viewers initially from being able to view the gallery. Well at least I know that's what got me here initially. I think I'm going to try calling to see if I get an answer. Last week when I was having problems getting on the site the phones were also down. Don't know what's going on. Andrea (angelluciano)

I uploaded the same file for the image above in this thread. I am submitting the correct files in the correct boxes on the upload screen. I use IE browser and never had a problem like this in the past. I uploaded the image again, without the thumb. After a long time the image appeared in My Gallery as it should. Then I went back and edited the upload by adding the thumb. At first the thumb and the main image didn't appear in the Gallery, then I went to My Gallery and both thumb and image finally appeared as they both should. What a work around. I think there is a problem with Renderosity. Another artist had the same problem last night on his gallery. Next time I'm in touch with him I will tell him what I had to do and see if it works for him as well. Thank you so much Karen for your suggestion. Suzanne

Andrea, I guess we cross posted. Try what I did and see if it works for you. But be prepared for a long wait before the images appear. Go to "My Gallery" as well to see if you can see your image & thumb. What a mess! Suzanne

& the main image & thumb have seperate file names? like main.jpg & mainthumb.jpg..

claridad ( ) posted Mon, 10 October 2005 at 12:09 PM

I've done both same file names & separate file names in the past, without problems, but it is worth a try to assign different file names if it will keep one from having to jump throught the hoops I've had to in the current process. Thanks Cynthia. Suzanne
