IBL is Image Based Lighting (Dr Geep is clearly having a hippy based moment :) ) It uses what is called a light probe to define the lighting in an image. It achives much the same effect as DAZ's global lighting, except that instead of dozens of lights it only needs one. I beleive the intention is to create more realisic lighting effects, and when combined with Ambient Occlusion it works pretty well. The link is an image i made using ao and ibl. Hope that helps JohnFugazi (without the aid of a safety net)

I think you can find Light Probes around, not really looked myself.
Making one isn't too tricky if you have the right equipment. In this case a chrome ball and a camera.
My understanding is that you take a photo of a chrome ball in the area you want to use the lighting. Get the image on your PC and crop it so that it is square, with the ball at the center (top, bottom and left and right sides touching the edges) and thats your light probe.
It's ptobably slightly more complicated than that, but it's the basic process.
I've toyed with trying it using bryce but have never got round to it.
John.
