Subject: Official Guide 2.3

Has anyone purchased the official guide for 2.3 or the game book? How helpful were they? The interface in blender is very different and while somethings are not too difficult...some seem alot harder to figure out.

No need to think outside the box....

I have a Polish edition of it, it`s quite OK, although it becomes a bit outdated now! You can see the guide on the net [look @ www.blender.org] and also see the Wiki book on Blender [inclomplete yet, but more up-to-date: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro]. Hope it helps.

I have the guide and its pretty good. If you are concerned about changes in the interface between the current version when the book was written and the present version then you can install the version that comes w/ the book. (Or downlaod it from blender.org) Lately I have just been picking away at online tutorials. The Wiki online book mentioned above was very good as well. The help menu in v 2.37a (and I assume earlier versions) will lead you to a lot of good stuff on the web.

Thanks. I have been looking online and found those mentioned.Having a "good" book though saves all that printing and what really helps are people who know how to distill it down to important concepts. Somethings I run into I can't be sure if it's me or a bug etc... Just really getting a handle on the interface is what I am after now. The wiki was the most recent and it does seem better. I have not been getting expected render results for example with yafray even w/ plugin so wondering if it was me. Very exciting to see what is being worked on.
