Hi all,

Been AGES since I posted or even launched my bryce/poser and I'm keen as hell to get back to trying to learn this crazy 3d world. Before my extended break it became obvious to me that I needed a wacom tablet of some sort and I was wondering if anyone could advise me on an entry level product? Gotta admit I am blissfully ignorant about them so any advice from anyone who uses one would be greatly appreciated! Oh, best say I use an apple MAC (for my sins).

I use a Wacom Graphire3 4x5. Its small..and my first tablet..took some getting used to ;) Only paid $104.00 USD for it at Best Buy. I would say go for the cheaper,smaller versions if you have never used one before...wouldn't want to go to a great expense if you decide its not for you :)

Here's a link to a thread in the Paint Shop Pro Forum about good "try-out" tablets, and some are as low as $30 USD....

Gotta admit I am blissfully ignorant about them Why is not knowing about pen tablets blissful? ;-) Personally, my best recommendation would be to go with a genuine Wacom tablet, and don't waste your money on an "off brand". I have a Graphire II, a small one (my desk isn't very big), and I find it works very well for everything I need to do. You can get bigger ones and more expensive ones with greater sensitivity, of course, but whatever you get, make sure it's a Wacom (learned that one the hard way!). bonni

Tried using Wacom tablets twice with two different systems. Either it worked with Photoshop OR Painter, but never both. No one at Wacom could give me a reason why. So, as opposed to spending another couple of hundred, I bought a tablet by AIPTEK, the 12000U. It's got a large working surface, pressure sensitivity like a Wacom, and less than half the price. You can see them at www.aiptek.com

Thanks again for all the advice guys, I took a quick look at the AIPTEK ones but they look like they are PC only - suprise suprise, nothings affordable is available for the mac =(
