Well, here is a comparison shot. The left is the Buffy morph composited with the photo on the left. All of the Poser head shape sans where hair covers it is retained from the poser model. The only post work was to play around with hue/contrast/noise and blur to match the original, and ridding some hard lines around the eyes. Otherwise, it's strictly poser+logice. As far as I can tell, with the exception of very, very, very, very minor differences, it's a winner. Am I done yet??? -Darth

yes sir, looks done to me. Awesome work....

The lateral eyebrows are still too far away from the eyes, which should also be rounder.

Those minor differences can make or break a pic. While you are getting closer, some of Sarah Michelle Gellar's defining features are the ones you want to hit.

1.) Let's face it, her nose is one of her more defining features. From the images provided, I can say that a few things need a little work (but don't worry, I'm just being picky.) The "bulb" at the end of her nose is a little too high. It should go no higher than the highest points on the nostrils; The bridge of her nose looks like it's broken, not really a problem, but it makes her look like she's turning into a vampire. The tip of her nose is also too upturned, giving more of a look into her nostrils than there should be. It's also to wide at the height of the nose. Okay, now onto the

Eyes: The bottom of her eyes should be a little more rounded. Something that the Japanese animation master realized, and then later by our American comic book artists took note of is that the younger you are, the wider your eyes in relation to your head. Sarah Michelle Gellar is no different. Her eyes are beautiful, nobody can deny that, just as Spike's (can't remember actor's name) and David Bor-a-whatchamicallhim's eyes are too. Once you round out her eyes, you'll be on the path to completion.

The Mouth: I think you've got her bottom lip pretty well, minus the minute amount of space between her bottom lip and her chin. Her jaw is a little more pronounced, and her chin is a little more gently rounded than you've made it. Her top lip is still a bit thinner, and a little more sensitive, giving a "determined" expression. Her cheeks are also a little more rounded, but not to the point of poofy.

This is all I can see for now, but you are definitely on the right track. The eyebrows have already been addressed, but with a little more work, I think you'll really have it. If I have enough time to play tomorrow, I'll work on making my own Buffy morph, it sounds like an interesting little challenge. Good luck, take easy, and don't get stressed out about my nitpicking. After all, we are all her to help each other and have fun, right?

Darth_Logice ( ) posted Mon, 05 March 2001 at 9:30 PM

A lot of the minutae are things that just can't get morphed via magnets, which is what I use. I gotta admit I was a little stressed after your gallery critque, but I took it as a challenge rather than a dig, and I appreciate you taking the time to check back on the progress. Perhaps I'll try again with magnets tomorrow to fix some of the things...but I can tell you this: it's virtually impossible to work with the eyebrows. One other thing: I think having a good morph is just a start, some of these tweaky pesky problems can and should be delt with in postwork. I didn't do that here, because I wanted to illustrate the morph out of the box. Also, I took a look in the gallery for other Buffies, and I gotta tell you that the others are in the ballpark, but they are pop-flies at best. The best one kind of looked like a Japanese Comic Book Version of Gellar IMO, then there's the old p(3?) version of Buffy, which was great but c'mon it's not Vicky. -Darth

Gaer ( ) posted Mon, 05 March 2001 at 9:39 PM

That's true, but not everyone needs to use Vicky, either. Personally, I'd rather create my own model or morphs than use one that I have to buy. That's why I'm so picky, I suppose. Stupid college. My post in your gallery wasn't meant as a dig, but something to help you along. Sometimes (I myself am one of them) people need a little prodding before they can achieve their full potential. I think that you hold a HECKUVALOT of potenial, but you are holding back for some reason. Your recent post only confirms this. Good luck to you, and should you come up with any more questions, feel free to contact me. mahon@students.sonoma.edu. I'm almost always at my computer, so I should be able to get back to you.

What, no comment on SlayBelle? B^) It may not have been the best thing I've done, but most of my dls average at 600 downloads -- this one took me by surprise by hitting 1000 in 2 days and tapering off at 1800 so far. Nod gets creds for the texture. My purgatory has been trying to get Alyson Hannigan believable for Posette. Fourteen major revisions and I'm still unhappy with it. Seriously, Darth, you get better and better, and the Buffy cast gallery speaks for itself.

Darth_Logice ( ) posted Tue, 06 March 2001 at 12:44 AM

Heya Duane, just took a refresher look at Slaybelle, and she is as buffalicious as a gal can get on Posette! Having done a little homework, doesn't it just drive you mad that four million people downloaded her and only one render in the gallery turns up with her in the credits? I ask not to demean but to commiserate. It's a timeless issue in the poser world, I know, but doesn't it make you batty? -Darth

Do you have any pics of Slaybelle posted? I went to your site, but didn't find anything, and the Free Stuff dl didn't work. I'd be happy to help if you truly want it. Just let me know.
