I've tried several times to get Poser 6 understood. I have absolutely no idea how any of this works, zero experience, and even less patience.

Here is a screen shot as it opens up. I can't remember what I did to get this layout, but as I recall I was trying to find a way to get the character in full view.

Almost all of the CAD type software I use allows you to zoom in and out using the center mouse wheel. Curious Labs evidently doesn't believe this is a good function for the center wheel.

There is no "View" pull down menu, I've really screwed this up.

So, can anyone tell me how to undo all this and get the screen view with the character in full view like it was when I first opened the program four months ago?

I know in P5 the view options can be found to the left side of the render area if you want full view or split view. Don't have P6 at home right now, but I think you should be able to change your work area with one of the little tools along the bottom of your screen shot there. If I remember right it's the little square one to the left. If I don't remember right (been without computer at work with P6 for a couple months now...) I'm sure someone will come along soon with the correct answer.

Crazy alien chick FTW! (yeah....right....)

In the image...you see on the bottom left. Their are arrows (Upside down Triangle Icons) pointing down. Press on the arrow, to the very far left. Those are the screen views option. I recall when I first started poser, it was very, very difficult. Once you pass that struggle, your fun is endless. Been using poser over two, three years now. I still got half to learn, and I am still learning what I already know.

"I have absolutely no idea how any of this works, zero experience, and even less patience." Read The Funny Manual. Sorry, but you can't charge in saying that this program is different from your usual CAD progs and complaining that you have no patience to learn its proper use. The end result will be that you'll be no able to do anything with it, if you don't devote to it an hefty part of your time.

I am glad to see you are back at trying to understand Poser 6. GOOD FOR YOU!!! I really hope you check out geep's tuts and try your best not to lose patience with it. I have faith in you Joe. If you can learn Rhino, Flamingo, and Bongo (Why do they all end in "o" anyways?), then you can surely conquer Poser 6. If you think Poser 6 is a tough nut to crack, try getting around in Truespace. I'll bet in another month or two you are cranking out animated masterpieces.

I guess I'm another very impatient Poser newbie but I do know this one. Look at the little square (currently divided into four) in the extreme lower left of your screen shot, click on that and you get a drop down, click on the one that has no lines, ei; the full screen icon. Yuo've probably figured it out for yourself by now anyway. I guess if all else fails, we should read the manual ;-P)))

Thanks for the info dr geep. Joe I just noticed in the top left hand viewport that it appears that you have found the "crotch camera". 8^)

@ Dan, thanx for the encouragement.

@ Dr Geep, thats a nice tutorial. Too bad about all the other distractions going on there.

If you go over to the Rhino forum and look in the header, you'll see where they've organized a whole set of Forum Based Tutorials.

They found the way to keep the chatter down by making a separate page for comments on the tutorial first, then write the tutorial, and link the two pages to each other. Then either a coord or a mod will lock the tuorial thread and link the tutorial to the tutorial link page.

If you ever feel like writing one on poser in similar fashion, let Dan know and I'm sure he'd set it up for you, being the nice guy he is and all. Once you have a couple of them, he might be able to convince Karen and the gang to link them to the Poser Forum header, and move the tuts to the Poser forum.

Thanks all, I really appreciate it. I tried reading the manual again but, alas, got distracted with something more exciting; I spent the weekend watching the snails in my aquarium breed.

Cryptojoe, Dr. Geep is our resident expert and has been doing Poser tutorials for years. He even gets paid to do them at an online sit now.

You can find the tutorials he's done at the following links:

Yes, Dr geep's tuts are filled with plenty of Poser nutrition. You should check with the Poser team before you volunteer me to change their forum around for them though. I have no problem in assisting the good Dr geep in any way I can, but I do not want to force anybody in the Poser team to have to do more work.

Doc likes the chatter... he's the exact opposite of all my secondary school teachers, who used to throw a board rubber if you talked during class. Doc throws a rubber if you don't LOL

Don't worry, they'll eventually incorporate the middle mouse button for zooming....in Poser 12. Or, if they're as serious as I hope they are about building Poser 7 from the ground up, it could be in Poser 7.

Robo2010 ( ) posted Tue, 18 October 2005 at 8:08 AM

Poser 12? Mouse Wheel?...Think in that time..we will be using are eyes to move the curser, squint to zoom in... :-)
