Yeah, I saw this image earlier 'cause he also posted it in the Terragen gallery here and I commented on it then. It shows some pretty amazing potential for the future of Terragen! Looks like it uses "instancing" to great advantage. Could turn out to be a real rival to Vue Infinite. I hope it's a lot cheaper.
Most images ive seen coming out of TGD so far, have made me drool.

The guy said there would be a free public beta later on. But I doubt it will be free in its finished state. And if that model is the one I think it is (picea pungens glauca from Xfrog public plants repository), "pleasantly surprised" by the render times is even more important, because it's done with lotsa transparencies. Bryce would take forever.

Erlik you are right I downloaded that tree and it took ages to render it. Bryce needs to do soemthing to speed up rendering transparency maps. Considering a lot of game engines do that in real time.

Beautiful image. Needs a little tweaking on the fog though, it belies the foreground and background. (not that I can talk, my volumetrics still fight me) AS

That's pretty nice, are they saying that now you can import a model into Terragen and render it in there? Like your own Wings3D models? I saw something on one of the Terragen sites that SEEMED to be saying that soft shadows were possible with no increase in render times - so I wondered about the models - I could have read that wrong though.

AS, how do you mean "it belies the foreground and background."?

The fog sticks out as looking 3D compared to the background which looks near like a photo and foreground look like very well rendered trees. The fog looks like it doesn't belong, to a certain degree. But, that's just a sticklers opinion on a beautiful render. AS

I've always been impressed by Terragen's realism. Particularly its skies.
