Subject: Vue Esprit 5 (Deutsche Version)

firestorm ( ) posted Fri, 21 October 2005 at 4:55 PM · edited Sat, 30 November 2024 at 12:34 PM

Hi, I have a few questions regarding the version of Vue. I purchased Vue 5 at the Daz sale and i received my copy of the software yesterday. I see that i have been sent a German (Deutsche) version of the software. I can understand the reason for this since the software was shipped to Germany but i am a native English speaker who happens to be based in Germany. My questions are as follows: 1. What is the difference between the English version and the German version?....i've yet to open the software in the event that i need to return it. 2. Would i be able to dowload a patch to turn a German version to an English version? I would ask these questions at Eon but they require a product key before asking a question and since i have not opened the software i cannot ask them. Thanks in advance for your help...hopefully i'll be here soon for actual Vue related questions :)

You might be best off asking for a replacement as I don't believe there is a way to "patch" a German version into English. Unless you are comfortable using German, this might be the best idea- especially because the manual would also be in German- not just the software... If you are in the US Military and have an APO address that might have clued whoever filled the order that you are an American- but if you used a German street address then- likely not. Bottom Line- I would contact DAZ and explain what has happened- and they might be able to best arrange a swap for an English version. Perhaps they could have E-on's Oregon office send you a US copy once you have arranged the swap.

Hi, thanks....this is what i was afraid of and it is why i have not opened the software. I did use a German street address and i can understand why this has happened. i do not want to use a German version since my basic German will not help me with the manual i believe. Again, thanks for your help :)

The European shipping is done by the Paris office, give them a call (won't break the bank from Germany) and explain you need an English version, that will work faster than going through their US office.
This number works during local office hours, 33-1-4314-2815 (33=France 1=Paris 4314-2815=E-on).

Hi, thanks, I have just emailed Daz and will await their response...might be early next week...hopefully :) If i get no response from them i will phone the Paris office....i've made a note of the number.

Isn't there a language kit available on e-on's site? It was for 4 and i expect it for 5 too. If not and if there is a problem let me know. I just try to get rid of the German version too (is automatic recognised when you have a german operating system on Mac) because i prefer the English version too.

Oh, i forgot to ask. Do you have an english operating system? I don't think there are different versions out there. So normally it detects on what system the installation does happen. I will let you know from Monday on (Vue is in the office machine) which files need to be exchanged. PS: I just checked the e-on site and found this sentence: "Starting from Vue 5 Esprit version 5.02 up, all updates are multi-lingual. "

Sounds to me more an after sales support question than a forum one anyway. So how about asking them? My feeling it simply needs to exchange some files in the environment folder. So you probably could register. But i am not sure about that. Some more thoughts. The installer hadn't the option for several languages? I wonder why because when i have e-on installers correctly in mind they normally does have that. But i easily can be wrong, it was quite a while ago when i used an installer from scratch. Another option might be to install, update to the latest version and see what happens. But of course this would need a registration first. If you are patient, i can find out how to do the language change for you - i want to do the same thing anyway. I want an english version and have a german one because of automatic detection.

I've got a german version (willingly) and it was german after first installing it. However, since I installed the first update from the e-on site, it is english. I guess, I could turn it back to german any time, but haven't cared to do so yet. As I understood it, the basic version is english and it just has a german language pack. P. S.: I'm using a german Windows 2000

Just forgot: Of course, there is a german manual in the box - if that is of no use to you, you'll be better off, having it replaced.

I purchased Vue 5 at the Daz sale and i received my copy of the software yesterday. I see that i have been sent a German (Deutsche) version of the software. Exactly the same thing happened to me. Since I am a German this is not a big problem, it just surprised me a little. Anyway, when I installed it I was asked which language I wanted. English was available, too. What doesn't switch is of course the manual which is in German ...

I have an english manual here - and would like to have a german one. So...
