Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 30 8:14 pm)
Oh kewl, Mike! There was no special trick for me when I did mine. I just went to the listing of one of my items, clicked Edit, switched the category (all else was in place on the form), saved it and went on to the next item. I'm not sure I like the new "Free Stuff" arrangement they implemented today. (Not Vue's, but all of 'em.) So far, I haven't been able to reach any category but Poser. Is anyone having any luck with it? Looking forward to the secret announcement, Mike! :)
I had thought a pull-down was a java script all the time? Actually, it's funny you sjhould mention it, because whether I'm right or not, I had thought that a pull-down always required java, and so that's the first thing I thought when I saw it--- that some people might be unhappy about that. But in Complaint and Debate this morning someone had already asked about that very same problem, and Russ said it was a bad code, and that he would fix it. shrug--- It worked for me from the moment I first used it. ................ The "secret announcement" unfortunately has to be delayed slightly, but only slightly, due to a tiny thing I overlooked...but trust me, it's worth it... let's just say we all need to step up our Vue practice just a bit...... :) --Mike
Javascript <-- one thing Java <-- different thing Yes, it's confusing. Anyway, a drop-down menu could be HTML, Java, javascript, and possibly some other code entirely. In this case, it's javascript. And it's the only time javascript is required at Renderosity...not sure why they wanted to do that. Seems to me it would have been just as easy to set it up the way the galleries are arranged. But ah well, I'm sure someone had a reason for it. Mike:let's just say we all need to step up our Vue practice just a bit...... Hmm...curiouser and curiouser! :)
but a drop down box is html. weird. -- Usually. Look a bit closer, and you'll see this one doesn't have a "submit" or "go" button next to it. They use the javascript so that it does an auto "submit" as soon as you make a selection. Progress...hmph! And hey, recatagorize! It only takes a few minutes -- well, depending on how much you've got in there -- and it will help fill out the new areas. (I love the new catagories! They make our area look like it's hit the Big Time.) ;)
Just adding a note to this thread, re: the javascript requirement for Free Stuff. After working with it this way for awhile, I could tolerate it quietly no longer, so I posted in the Complaint forum. And by golly, voices get heard around this place! The webmaster-god (aka: rcook) smiled kindly upon us and now, although javascript is still being used in that spot, it is no longer required. If you don't use javascript, you can still reach all the categories of Free Stuff with no trouble! Way cool, eh? :)

Hi, The Free Stuff has undergone a couple of changes. Now, at the top of the manu, under Features, you see there is only the category of Free Stuff. Click on it, and by defauilt it goes to Poser, but there's a drop-down menu with all the sub-categories, Vue included. As for US, we now have the additional sub-categories of: Atmospheres General Materials Objects Plants Seasonal Terrains You can thank Varian for bringing this idea to me, and Rcook for making it so. I would like for anyone with miodels, etc., in the Vue Free Stuff to move his/her stuff to the appropriate category, but this is not a requirement. I would do it myself, but I can't. :( Not yet at least... All my stuff is still in the General category, as I haven't had a chance yet to move it all, but I will do so as soon as it is possible. I tried to move one item, and lost all my download numbers. Varian didn't, however, and I don't know what he did, but hopefully he'll have some insights for us. :) I'm sorry if this is an inconvenience, but we REALLY needed more sub-categories after all....Our Free Stuff could have become a real mess, given enough time..... ............... Stay tuned for an even bigger announcement, coming to a Renderosity Vue d'Esprit Forum near you soon! You won't want to miss this... let's just say for now that it's.... nah, I don't want to ruin it for ya... ;) Cheers, Mike
