I have modeled a object using Maya and textured using jpg image maps. When I import and render out of Vue the textures flicker, pop, and piece of the texture seem to disappear in a frame then reappear. I have tried baking the object and textures, I have tried turning off double sided, I have maxed out the render options for anti-aliasing and still the same results. The texture maps were created 1024x1024 with a bump of the same res. I can't seem to figure out why I am having so many problems with something that should be pretty simple. Please take a look at a quick sample of the texture problem I am trying to explain. If anyone has some ideas I sure would like to hear them.

Thanks for any help,
Dave

What is the mapping method? Maybe that is the problem here - maybe! Try object parametric maybe. Ok, a lot of maybes here, but hard to understand what is going on without seeing. A chance to get the scene in hands for looking?

Wabe, The mapping in Vue is Object Standard but in Maya I mapped the UV's and exported as a 3ds object which should have kept those mapped correctly. I will mess around some more with the mapping and see what I can turn up. Unfortunately I am not able to release the scene for viewing which I know makes it harder for anyone to help. Thanks for the mapping idea. If there is anymore ideas let me know. Dave

One other thing I can think of is to check to see if the material is been mistakenly animated...can happen quite easily when in the process of animating in Vue...Vue tends to want to animate everything and seems to have a mind of its own once you decided to animate a scene. Cheers

I thought the same thing once I started getting the results I am. I figured I set a key frame on the texture some how but I have checked that and nothing on the model is animated. The model is attached to the animation wizard airplane motion path and the camera is linked to the glider. My test turning off double sided has failed because one the texture still flickers and two the alpha channel has holes in it. I have also tried all the mapping types and nothing seems to work. Dont know...running out of ideas and time on it. I may just have to render it in Maya and try to match the lighting from my Vue scene. Keep tossing out ideas if you have them. Thanks, Dave

Have you tried changing the lighting model or render settings? I know it's basic, but it really seems to make a diff on some things. Also, did you really take a good look at material in advanced just to make sure nothing was missing or set wrong.Sometimes simple things get overlooked...hate when that happens.

No need to think outside the box....

just 2cents, when importing a mesh from lightwave, the texture should be UVMAPPED otherwise the textures are not "shown" correctly under vue. Try to UVmpap first, then import. laurent

This model was created in Maya and has all its UV's mapped. I have scrapped the shot and will look into this later. Deadlines are approaching and I dont have time for it now. But thanks for all that have replied and if I figure out the problem Ill post my results. Thanks again, Dave
