Subject: Render Problem

Hey all..... I am now starting to want to do slightly more complex pictures (a couple of figure, outfits, buildings) but my computer seems to lock up or freeze during rendering. I have a P4 2.8Ghz, 1 GB of Ram running Windows XP and Poser 5. I have tried turning off Nortons and setup Poser to High Priory for processing, turn the render setting down and this seems to make a little difference, but still having problems. I am not worried how long it takes, but as long as it finishes. I 3 questions: 1. Is this normal? 2. Any ideas how to fix? 3. Does Poser6 have this problem also, is it better for rendering? Thanks for any help or advise. Grant

My answers based on my experiences: 1. Yes. 2. Add RAM or go back to P4/ProPack. ProPack can take much more complex scenes before it starts to choke. 3, Part1 - Yes. Part2 - Not sure because I didn't have time to learn the new lighting before I stopped using it.

Ive just tried a test render with three figures{P4, V2, V3}all with high res textures, dynamic hair and dynamic clothing.I used IBL Ambient occlusion. The render started ok then when it hit the dynamic hair it appeared to stop dead. According to Windows Task Manager Poser was not responding. The header in the Poser window also said "not responding". At this point most people would stop Poser and lose their scene, but I just lrt it run and 15 mins later the render was finished. Just because Poser appears to have stopped, dont despair ,just have patience.

I normal give Poser 12 Hours of no action before I shut it down, as i have also found that some render can take awhile before they finish. Thanks Grant
