Subject: Prop obj extractor ?

LilWolff ( ) posted Sun, 06 November 2005 at 4:56 PM ยท edited Tue, 21 January 2025 at 9:23 AM

I thought I saw a utility once that extracted the obj's from prop files. I have seached free stuff in utilities and other places. Checked the market place also, and unless my key words are wrong I can't find anything. Am I mistaken about what I thought I saw? Anyone heard of this? I am hoping this is one of those right in front of your nose things.

Export prop from Poser as obj file?

LilWolff ( ) posted Sun, 06 November 2005 at 5:58 PM

What I am thinking of didn't go through Poser it extracted the original obj right from the prop file. Can you morph something from an obj you export from Poser? For some reason I am thinking that is a no no.

There is one as part of the Tool Collection here in the store. All the tools I have used with this product I am very happy with. http://market.renderosity.com/softgood.ez?ViewSoftgood=37406

I use Composer (Compose v. 1.1). You can find a link on PhilC link page. It is java-dependent (Sun Java Runtime).

Lilwolff I use the programs in Dimension3D's tool box all the time, infact I used the I used the embedded geometry remover, the addmorph program and the file reference program this morning. FOr the price these are an excellent assortment of useful programs for Poser content makers! No, I'm not associated with Dimension3D, just a very satisfied customer. mike

You can use Notepad though it involves a few steps--there's a tutorial somewhere. Much easier, use the free UVMapper Classis program. Just drag your prop with embedded geometry onto UVMapper and then go to Save and save the .obj file. You can use the same technique to save the embedded geometry in a hair file as well. I think that there is a free utility to do this but I don't recall the name offhand.

Just export from Poser, use only 'As Morph Target...' in the export options. If it is a multi-part prop, you will have to export each part seperatly. Q: Can you morph something from an obj you export from Poser? A: Yes.
