Subject: More Poser 6 Issues..

I have a PC that did everything wonderfully in Poser 5, and recently upgraded to Poser 6. Maybe a dumb move or just being stupid ;).. I have a SINGLE character V3 with Grace Lion hair and one of the V3 skin packages I purchased here, renders fine at standard setting, but when I push it to final setting It always says "Not enough memory to render , lower settings" My PC has the following: Intel Pentium IV 3.4ghz HT processor 1 GB Memory 120 GB (100 GB free) Ultra 133 SATA Hard Drive Windows XP PRo (all patches) Poser 6 (latest release) Any ideas why this is happening?

Set the render settings by hand. Don't use the auto settings. And don't try to render with the auto settings pushed to max.

Use manual settings, and make sure texture filtering is off. That sucks up a huge amount of memory, and isn't needed for the vast majority of Poser renders.

seems to me they should fix that..why have auto settings if you can't use them. I also always get the "out of memory" message, with a top of the line system. I used the manual settings for a while, got disgusted and went back to P5

Thanks for the replies, I will try that tonight.. I agree Dirk, why make the auto setting if it can't be used? Again, thanks for the feedback..

I think it's the same reason car speedometers go up to 140 mph or more, when it's illegal to go anywhere near that fast. ;-)

It may be Illegal Randy but they don't crash at 140mph.....well they may but its not the cars fault LOL......Steve

I assume that you have the SR1 (Service Release 1) patch installed? That patch helped to clear up about 80% of the memory error messages on renders for me. It wasn't a cure-all: but it was a definite improvement.

If you haven't already installed the patch, then you can find it on the Content Paradise website. It's free, of course.

I don't know if recently sold copies of P6 come with this patch pre-installed.

In that case, you might have to try the "tricks" of reducing bucket size & texture size loading on renders. Also, you can try reducing your render image size under "Render Dimensions". These things can all help. Sometimes -- but not always.

.....and you can wait for SR2.

Regardless, I wouldn't look back after installing P6. P6 has P5 beat all over the place in many areas.
