Subject: What's the difference between Poser 4 and Poser Artist?

laetia ( ) posted Mon, 07 November 2005 at 8:10 PM · edited Thu, 25 July 2024 at 5:30 PM

I know P4, but I've never seen PA... Quick little questions: 1) Are the thumbnails in RSR files and the bumpmaps in BUM files? Or is Poser Artist more like ProPack in regards to these 2 file types? 2) Does PA contain everything P4 does + more or is it something different and some options aren't in there? Thanks for any info! :) Caro

"Poser Artist" is just a fancy name for good old Poser4.
They are one and the same.
Go get ProPack. You wont regret it. ^-^

AFAIK, they're the same--renamed not reborn :-)

Hehehe! I've got P6 which is soooo much better than all the other ones that came out, IMHO... BUT... I'm going to need P4 to be able to test backwards compatibility with products. Trouble is all they've got is Poser Artist and I wasn't sure if it was identical to P4 or not... I actually really need identical or a little more, but no ProPack. :) ty for the info!!

It's EXACTLY Poser 4 - even down to still needing the 4.03 updater patch installed by the user post install to use on any modern PC ( > 1GB virtual mem - e.g. anything much over about 256MB of real RAM!).

It's really pathetic that a new poser artist is left to figure this out for themselves on a product (re-)released in 2004!!!

There is EXACTLY ONE difference between P4 and Poser Artist - the name, that's it!

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

I've a question on this topic..is it still possible to purchase Pro Pack ? I know it's a bit old hat now..but my creaky old system is below spec for P6, so if I want to upgrade to something a bit better, I'd have to go for ProPack.I know it's prob possible to get it via ebay or similar..but I'm very wary of purchasing software via that route .

Fry's and/or their Outpost.com is only place I'm aware of since the lame-duck P5 came out.

Thanks for that, Layingback. Only one problem, Fry's don't ship it overseas :( I'll have to see what I can arrange..
