Um... Well I was just amusing myself with a little something while waiting for my laptop to be accessible and what I wanted to do whas scale uniform on the selected faces - but! there appears to be a horizontal line just where I've put the green arrow, which _seems_ to have selected some internal faces - that I didn't know were there. I've tried "freeze virtual mirror" and "break virtual mirror" to no avail, I still get the result in the next message, what can I do?

please ignore the above message, I thought I was in the Wings Forum, when obviously I wasn't.

Sorry folks. In order to keep on topic and Bryceish, when I finish this object in Wings Ill need some bat fur for the body and bat leather for the wings yes, its a bat. Does anyone know of a location for such textures?

Well, all you need is a scanner or good quality digital camera, a long sleeved shirt (flanny is a good option here), and a pair of nice thick gloves (preferably leather).... I'm sure you can see where I'm going here ;) Mahray

Mahray,

Hmmm, we had a bat caught in between the double glazing about 10 years ago, but - well there's never a bat about when you need one!

Next suggestion?

To capture a bat you go to a vicinity they are known to frequent. Beforehand prepare several squares of panty hose about 3 inches square. Tie a small rock in the middle. Put your gloves on and toss the pantyhose square with the rock tied in it into the air as the bat is approaching. The bat goes to snag the rock thinking it is an airborne munchie and becomes entangled in the pantyhose. Free the bat and scan as humanely as possible before releasing.

Hold on...let me go up to my belfry. I usually have a few there, or so I've been told. Actually Fran, from personal observation I think you could use a scan of leather to get a good approximation of the texture of a bats wings. There are already a lot of leather textures on the net.

FranOnTheEdge ( ) posted Mon, 07 November 2005 at 1:20 PM

UVDan, Um, can I borrow your "panty-hose"? I don't have any handy. Er, might be an idea to scan BEFORE releasing the bat... providing of course, that it has survived the part of the operation involving the rock. pakled, that's exactly WHY I didn't delete it, there's nothing more infuriating than "deleted post" IMO. danamo, belfry? belfry?? Hey, while you're up there don't forget to take a pic of the bell's texture! - could do with some nice cast bronze bell. I could only find two leather textures, one a brown and one a black, not too sure if they'll work.

Here's a good texture site with some seamless leather textures. They might be a good start for wing textures. http://www.noctua-graphics.de/english/Tex/skin.htm Darn! my digital camera is on the fritz. Maybe I can have my assistant Igor help me carry one of my bells down so we can scan it.;-)

Coo, what a nice selection of leathers... and other stuff too, that's a new site for me. Thanks very much for the URL. Go for it, Igor!

Don't make Igor do that. You know he has back problems. that is how he got that way. Even if this is a thread going the wrong direction we have a few useful things here.

But he's a big strong fella is Igor, I mean look at them bolts in his neck... oh, no... that's the other fella, isn't it? Ah yes, Now I see him, he's that weedy little fella with the strange predeliction for African food (aka creepy crawlies) - he don't look at all well you know, I think you're right. There's no way he could carry a bell. danamo, you crule thing you! Leave that poor grey skinned fella alone, carry your own bell! ... (thinks) Bells are useful too.

Yeah, I had to let "Frank" go,(he's the big fella with bolts in his neck). He kept strangling the help, and the townsfolk threatened to burn my house down. Igor got his cousin to help him, but the unfortunate fellow slipped and fell down 4 flights of steps and the bell landed on him with a resounding "CLANG"! I didn't catch his name but his face rings a bell.*cue rim-shot,-bah-dump-bump. Speaking of Bronze bells; were you looking for a texture for your OmaniBusShelter thingie? I'll bet we could bribe that AgentSmith fella to give us a good recipe.

FranOnTheEdge ( ) posted Tue, 08 November 2005 at 2:39 AM

Oh well if you've got the bell down now we can ALL take pictures, blood is interesting too. Was it a big wound? (leaning forward eagerly) g Now, how exactly does one go about bribing AS?

But I haven't got any rusty metal, that's why I keep on asking for such things... Found some nice leathers the other day that someone posted a URL for, but mostly Mayang or Lemog seem to have cornered the market in metals at least. S'okay AS says he'll do a bronze when he's got time. Yippeee!!!
