Subject: BHV motion questions

What other programs take advantage of BHV, do: Truespace, Amapai, Strata, 3D studio, or Raydrem o If so do BHV easily transfer between progams? Are there any learning resources on the net about BHV if so where? What websites sell BHV's? Thanks

I have some in the store (look for poses) but not usre what else they will work with except for poser. I think Max uses them, but what format (shrugs)...

Cinema 4d uses BVH extremely well, as does Animation Master, Lightwave, Max and I think there is now a plug-in from Credo for Truespace. Amapi, no. Raydream, no, but you can import a bvh'd poser4 file into RD5.5 I had similar questions when I began experimenting with the files, and found it very tough to get answers. It seems like the people who produce BVH want to keep things secret. This is probably because it costs thousands of dollars to buy or rent mocap systems and those who have them don't want to give anything away. The best resource I've found is Credo Interactive, makers of LifeForms, a great program which outputs motion files. They have tutorials for every program that uses bvh.

Dance Studio (before from Metacreations) output BVH format that you can use in Poser.

BVH... I spent years for BVH issue, I have more than say 500 or more BVH file all Poser compatible, they are converted from DS, CS, LFS, Bio Vision, Zygote... But I can't give away as they do not allow me to do so. DS is the only ome that can custom your own dance style motions for BVH export. Cheers

I have added motions to a human figure in Poser 4. Since I want to import these figure into 3DS (with Character Studio), I exported the motions into a BVH file. However 3DS failed to read data from the file can anyone tell me why?

N.B. Actually I have checked the exported BVH file, there were at least two problems:

  1. mismatch node names (Not a serious problem)
  2. Poser 4 creates some additional nodes such as Abdomen and neckDummy, which do not exist in the standard Gypsy's standard BVH file.
Does anyone know how to convert the Poser exported BVH file to one that can be read by 3DS?

Cheers

I Have raised this issue over at the max forum.
and even had a few users test out some animated Max bone rigs made from poser BVH files.
you are welcome to have a few animated bone rigs i
exported as .3DS files
as i am looking at the possibility of offering such preanimated bone rigs in the market place for MAX and for lightwave if i find there is enough interest
