I'm starting a class tomorrow for black and white photography and developing. Thought I would post my first attempt at black and white. I was testing an old camera. Please let me know what you guys think. I will post more for advice as the weeks progress. It will also be posted on my gallary. Thanks in advance for the advice. Jaden

Looks like a good start to me ! Good luck with the class :)

And every one said, 'If we only live,
We too will go to sea in a Sieve,---
To the hills of the Chankly Bore!'
Far and few, far and few, Are the lands where the Jumblies live;
Their heads are green, and their hands are blue, And they went to sea in a Sieve.

I tiny bit over exposed and out of focus (but that could be the cam). But good luck with the course!!!

It does look like a good start, nice shadowplay with the light areas. The blurriness and blown highlights could be from your developing and scanning, so it is hard to be sure how to comments. Keep at it and have fun.

Thanks for the comments. I think I had my shutter speed set to slow. One drawback of film is the lack of "instant feedback" that the digital has. But it makes you have to think that much more. As far as the blurriness goes, probably because I had to put the quality level down to 3 or 4 in photoshop to get the file to the correct size. could have resized it I guess and bumped up the quality. Oh well, live and learn. Off to class now. Thanks again. Jaden
