The only thing you can do is write your copyright all over the image, which would ruin it in my opinion. And that right-click thing can be worked around too if someone takes a screenshot.
Kort Kramer - Kramer Kreations
most of the images aren't worth printing.. too small, low quality, compressed as a .jpg
you could always deteriorate the image further
or use an embedded copyright
but anything you put on the net can be "stolen"
applying a "no right click" does nothing we did add the little copyright blurb under the images.. not that some bother to read it ;P

It is more about one being able to express ones view...it is about being able to disagree, and I did follow on a Thread about "stirring up trouble"....it is not a Utopian World... nor is the Subject...if only seen from Your Point of view...I follow on from Your Own statement : "i am so happy our forum is fun & nice & we treat each other with respect & help each other.. we can disagree but we do it without getting overheated & stirring up trouble" So...it is in answer to You....and public humiliation is rather a dramatic way to to answer...because My view point is different...customary smilie
This thread was about photos and copyright. Let's keep it to that. Pee Wee....there is nothing stopping anyone from taking something on the internet. No right click code or notices about the copyright. The best you can do is be glad someone likes your work enough to actually want it. It is a long shot you would ever find out if they are making money off any of your photos and would credit you. There is something I read once about a watermark locator that can actually track an embed on your photos. Can be expensive though. If you have an image that is 800x 600....the best print you could get would be about 1 inch by 1 inch. Sure you can print bigger, but try it and see the quality.
"The happiness of a man in this life does not consist in the
absence but in the mastery of his passions."
Even an imbedded watermark can be removed easily, there are encryption programs and also slicing programs (that slice your image into lots of little pieces and reconstruct them in html also when you right click them you save a blank part of the image there are still ways round it) but I dont think that they can be implemented into gallery uploads at least not the slicing programs anyway.
Bottom line and I have said this many times on many forums, the only 100% secure method at this time (probably ever) is if you dont want your images stolen dont put them on the net.
Sorry sad but true.

Edit: I have recently had several of my model images stolen and used by another (so called model) in order to get work, I am still a little confused how this could work when the (so called model) turned up for a shoot and didnt look like her photos!?! What is more annoying is that the model concerned found the images first which must have been pretty distressing for her.

Simon - I suppose that is true, but you can't live in fear... DB - I'm flattered when ppl like my images and yes I suppose the print quality does suck compared to a 2650 pxl image... Thanx for all of the POV on this. I didn't think of the temp folder and forgot about screen shooting... I've gotta agree with C some forums can be too serious, having some fun on the side without losing sight of the topic is lighthearted. And I Agree that the watermark thing can be short circuited. And yes putting copyrights all over the image will destroy it... I was on a picture library site yesterday seeing the price of images and even the smallest view had copyright written all over it... And I do apologise about the misspell in the topic title... just remember ------ BLONDE

If & when you ever suspect copyright infringement, lets say since the images are too small for print, they've been used on a web site other than RR. You can contact that web site, the persons ISP, etc. basically making it not worth their time. A Bryce artist ran across this type of situation not to long ago. If you're interested, I can contact him & ask some of the steps he took, or better ask him to IM you personally. Good luck Rod

Ockham's razor- It's that simple
Yes PeeWee, we cant live in fear or none of us would ever be able to do anything at all. My work has been used on several sites with permission, and no doubt on many without permission, I have come to accept that this will happen, and on some sites that I use (not here) I do infact stamp my images with my name, Ironically this has actually gained work for me by people that have seen my work and contacted me. Bit of a double edged sword, I dont like stamping my work as it can spoil it, but it can have a positive result too. Simon

Just out of interest is there something that the photo gallery has got to prevent ppl from right clicking and selecting images to use as their own?
